This type of lock cylinder engages in the corresponding housing via a spring-loaded hook.
The lock housings have a corresponding through hole or slot. Old lock cylinders can be removed without drilling out if the lock cylinder is positioned so that its retaining hook is exactly above this bore. Then the hook can be unlocked with a small Allen key or bent wire and the cylinder can be pulled out. Normally this is only possible if the locking cylinder is not in the locked position. Therefore, if the key is lost, drilling is usually unavoidable.
