NOTE: According to StVZO §56, every motor vehicle in Germany, including mopeds, requires at least one mirror mounted on the left-hand side of the vehicle. Mirrors with an E-mark are automatically TÜV-compliant as they have a sufficient mirror surface. They are approved within the scope of the StVZO.
TIP: Vehicles registered after 01.01.1990 with a registered maximum speed of no more than 100 km/h only require ONE left-hand mirror.
FAQ:
Why threads with different directions of rotation?
The biggest advantage of a right-hand thread on the right-hand side and a left-hand thread on the left-hand side is that the mirrors can no longer be loosened by the airstream at higher speeds. A left-hand thread on the right-hand side and a right-hand thread on the left-hand side offer the advantage that the mirrors can come loose in the event of a fall, thus minimizing damage to the mirrors or their threads. As there is no regulation of the mirror threads, these should always be checked before ordering.
TIP: When fitting mirrors, a little grease on the threads can make subsequent removal much easier.
