PERFORMANCE & CHARACTERISTICS
After installation, the engine achieves at least twice the power of an original PX125.
Typical performance values:

  • At least 12HP at 6000RPM
  • At least 15Nm at 5200RPM

Technology, Setup Options & Riding Characteristics

The high torque available from low RPM is maintained across a broad rev range. This allows a relatively short gearbox setup, ideal for city and country riding. The engine becomes very responsive and especially fun in acceleration.

The easiest way to achieve this is by simply swapping the clutch gear. Replace the existing gear (20, 21, or 22 teeth) with a 23-tooth gear. For an easy-to-operate high-quality sports clutch, the BGM Superstrong clutch with 23 teeth (for 68-tooth primary gear) is ideal.

The result is a lively, powerful, and highly durable touring engine that remains fuel-efficient. Additionally, it provides a great foundation for future upgrades.


FURTHER UPGRADES
The kit particularly benefits from a crankshaft with modified intake timing and (optionally) a longer stroke. The BGM177 cylinder is designed from the outset to support longer stroke setups and only requires a thicker head gasket (1.5 mm) for long-stroke cranks.

More Power & Headroom for Expandable Engines

If you enjoy engine tuning, you'll be amazed at how easily you can further increase the engine’s power without modifying the cylinder itself. The key lies in the rotary valve intake controlled by the crankshaft.

The intake is enlarged in the engine case to the maximum possible area (ensure adequate sealing surface for the crank webs) and the carburettor tray is opened up to suit a 26 mm carburettor. As a result, achieving over 16HP/19Nm at the rear wheel is no problem, while maintaining the same usable rev range. Thanks to the high product quality, the engine remains perfectly suitable for everyday use and can handle sustained full-throttle autobahn riding. Depending on the chosen gearing, such an engine can easily reach 120 km/h. For older engines, we recommend a full engine rebuild beforehand, especially replacing the crankshaft seals. This ensures lasting riding enjoyment over many thousands of kilometres.
