Introduction
Aprilia Scarabeo 50 (2010–2012, ZD4THG)
The Aprilia Scarabeo 50 (ZD4THG) from 2010 to 2012 was a special variant within the Scarabeo model range, distinguished by its sportier appearance and slightly modified design compared to the ZD4TG sister model. It combined the well-known strengths of the Scarabeo series – such as everyday practicality and distinctive styling – with a fresh look aimed at younger audiences.
With modern lines, a compact format, and proven technology, the ZD4THG variant offered a stylish and reliable solution for urban mobility.
Model History
The ZD4THG version was introduced in 2010 as a slightly modified and more compact version of the classic Scarabeo 50 models. Key differences included changes to the frame geometry, body shape, and design elements such as lighting and color variants. The model targeted young riders looking for a stylish vehicle with straightforward technology and a modern look.
Although technically closely related to the ZD4TG, the ZD4THG had a more independent character and primarily appealed to commuters and city riders. Production ended in 2012 and was later succeeded by other models in the Aprilia lineup.
Technical Details
The Aprilia Scarabeo 50 (ZD4THG, 2010–2012) was powered by an air-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine with 49 cc displacement. It delivered about 3 hp (2.2 kW) and reached a top speed of around 45 km/h. A continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) ensured simple and comfortable handling.
The chassis featured a telescopic front fork and a rear mono shock absorber. The braking system included a 220 mm front disc brake and a rear drum brake. The fuel tank had a capacity of about 7 liters, and the dry weight was approximately 92 kg. Fuel consumption ranged from 2 to 2.5 liters per 100 km.
Color Options and Accessories
The ZD4THG version of the Scarabeo 50 was available in youthful and dynamic color variants such as red, matte gray, white, and striking contrast designs. Some models featured sport-style seats or color-matched mirror housings.
Accessories included a windscreen, top case, rear luggage rack, and leg cover. Thanks to the sporty design, everyday usability, and solid technology, the ZD4THG was especially popular among young city riders.
