It is advisable to protect the bare steel on the outside of the pole wheel from rust with paint. It is also essential to check the contact pattern of the pole wheel cone on the crankshaft. To do this, simply mark the cone of the crankshaft with paint and then place the pole wheel firmly on it and turn it by hand. The paint film on the crankshaft should be evenly removed. If this is not the case, use valve grinding paste to grind the parts together.
