Genuine Royal Alloy seal for the luggage compartment flap of GP, GT, JPS and TG models. The black, self-adhesive foam seal is fitted around the luggage compartment flap and forms an elastic contact layer between the flap and the adjacent body structure.
The sealing strip helps to close the gap between the components and reduce the ingress of dust, dirt and splash water. At the same time, the flexible material can cushion direct contact between the adjoining component surfaces.
The Royal Alloy luggage compartment flap seal consists of a black, flexible foam strip with a rectangular cross-section. The material has a fine-pored structure and can adapt to the contour of the intended mounting surface.
A self-adhesive layer is located on the underside and is covered by a removable protective film before installation. This allows the seal to be attached directly to the intended contact surface.
The product images show the sealing strip in a curved arrangement. Both ends are straight. The profile has a uniform cross-section over its entire length.
The black surface is unobtrusive and blends into the area around the luggage compartment flap.
In Royal Alloy spare parts catalogues, the seal is listed under the English designation “Sponge Mat”. The dimensions specified there are 5 x 5 x 740 mm.
The sealing strip therefore has a square cross-section of 5 x 5 mm and an overall length of 740 mm.
The dimensions are matched to the intended installation position. The profile height is particularly important for its function, as the foam material is compressed between the contact surfaces when the luggage compartment flap is closed.
The elastic deformation allows small gaps and irregularities between the components to be compensated for.
The luggage compartment flap is a movable body panel. When closed, it meets the designated contact surfaces of the luggage compartment.

Replacement is particularly advisable if the existing seal is permanently compressed, torn, hardened or partially detached.
A new seal may also be required after replacing or removing the luggage compartment flap if the original adhesive strip no longer adheres reliably.

Before installation, the existing seal must be completely removed. Any old adhesive residue and dirt should then be removed from the mounting surface.
The adhesive surface must be clean, dry and free from grease to ensure that the new sealing strip adheres reliably.
For installation, gradually remove the protective film and apply the seal along the intended contour. The foam profile should be installed without excessive stretching to prevent the seal from contracting later or detaching from the surface.
Particular attention should be paid to ensuring even contact around curved sections. The sealing strip should not be twisted or excessively compressed.
After installation, check that the luggage compartment flap closes completely and that the seal contacts the intended surfaces. The operation of the hinges and locking mechanism must not be impaired by the new sealing strip.
