Who is behind it?
The inventor and spiritual father is Super Lui Tom from South Tyrol (Italy). His Instagram account @superlui75 is the central point of contact for everything to do with the Super Lui projects. He regularly posts new projects, engines and missions on tour there. Like the legendary Dolomiti Experience, for example. Well connected, Tom has brought all the important additional parts for the engine project and brake and chassis optimizations to the start. Among other things, Tom works closely with Luca from Dexter Racing together.
What exactly is the SuperLui Case?
It is a completely newly developed engine case with the right mounts for the frame and shock absorber of the Lambretta lui 50/75, Luna, Vega and Cometa. The ingenious thing about the housing is that all engine components and tuning parts from the Li family fit. This gives you complete freedom in your tuning ambitions as far as cylinders, crankshafts, ignitions and gearboxes are concerned.
The housings are available either with a hole cut for the small cylinders (125 - 175 cc) or with large ones for the 200 cc cylinders. This means that nothing stands in the way of the installation of all tuning cylinders.
Initially designed for the lui and its frame, the housing has now also found its way into the Junior bodywork. Here, the engine crossmember is attached with an appropriate adapter and the rear shock absorber comes from the bgm Vespa range.
What are the realistic benefits?
Here are a few examples of what a SuperLui case and finished conversions look like:
