The SIP PERFORMANCE by VAPE is a modern electronic ignition for the Vespa GS150 Wideframe. In the Road version, it works with static (fixed) ignition timing and supplies 12V alternating current (AC) at 110 W. The result: significantly more stable on-board voltage and, in practice, bright light even at low engine speedsas well as a setup suitable for everyday use without the typical weaknesses of the old 6V system.

Construction and details

Pole wheel: approx. 1620 g (with fan ring mount).

Stator: 9 coils.

One-piece pole wheel: precise balancing and exact concentricity, resulting in less vibration and less bearing stress.

Markings: Ignition timing is marked on the pole wheel and on the base plate, adjustment is also possible without flashing (TDC must be determined cleanly).

Pickup arrangement: less sensitive to lateral misalignment due to tolerances on the housing, shaft or base plate.

Conversion note: wiring harness, regulator, consumer

The system is designed as a 12V AC system. For a clean conversion, the electrical system is wired to match the controller and the 12V consumers. In practice, this often means for wideframe models: new wiring harness instead of continuing to use the old 6V wiring.

Original wiring harness: mostly old and brittle, also not designed for the centralized controller concept.

Recommendation: New wiring with 12V lamps and clean ground routing.

Result: fewer sources of error, constant starting behavior and stable on-board voltage.

Note: The original fan guard is used. Alternatively, CNC fan rings are available as accessories.

Do I have to blow off to set the timing?
