Clever solution from MRP to continue to draw cool air from the frame when using larger carburettors.
The opening in the frame is about 60x44mm. The area is therefore equivalent to a carburettor with a cross section of over Ø50mm. Thus the intake hose solution offers no loss of performance even on very powerful engines. Due to the cooler intake air, better performance results can be expected under heavy load, which strongly heats up the air under the side cover that would otherwise be sucked in.
Another big advantage is that the frame can also be used as sound insulation. Engines that have been converted to intake control via diaphragm can thus drastically minimize the noise level of the intake air. For this purpose, the frame can be additionally lined from the inside with sound-absorbing material.
TIP: It is essential to retain/install the standard plastic moulded part installed underneath the tank. Otherwise the intake noise from the area of the horn (frame tunnel opening) is quite loud. In the intake cutout under the front seat bench mounting, a pipe can be additionally inserted into the frame. This refracts the sound again and suppresses the medium to low frequency range of the intake noise.
This version with 60mm outer diameter is suitable for the following carburettors:
The tank does not have to be removed for installation!
The suction hose adapter can be easily mounted from the outside in 5 minutes.
