Brake Pads – BGM PRO TOURING 55.5 x 50 x 7 mm – Organic – KBA

Touring Compound Good cold bite Quiet operation Precise modulation KBA-approved Manufactured in Italy

Highlights

BGM PRO TOURING brake pads deliver maximum performance exactly when you need them most: on cold windows during everyday driving, in stop-and-go traffic, and in changing weather conditions. Add to that quiet operation and a pleasantly precise braking feel. In short: TOURING is the choice for anyone who drives in real, everyday traffic—but still wants brakes that feel sporty.

Three types of BGM PRO brake pads

There are essentially three types of BGM PRO brake pads:

Organic (TOURING): excellent cold performance, quiet, and easy to modulate—ideal for street and touring.
Sintered (ROAD): greater heat stability and more reserve capacity for harder use—for sporty street riding, mountain roads, and heavy setups.
Ceramic-Sintered (RACING): maximum performance once the brakes are up to temperature—for consistent sports and racing use.
Organic Coefficient of friction approx. 0.3–0.6 · Operating range just under 100 °C to approx. 250 °C
Sintered Coefficient of friction approx. 0.45–0.75 · Operating range approx. 200–350 °C
Sintered ceramic Coefficient of friction approx. 0.6–0.85 (peaks near 1.0) · Operating range approx. 200–500 °C · For racing applications

Manufacturing and Quality

Manufactured in Italy —by one of Italy’s largest manufacturers of brake components.
KBA-certified —for use on public roads (depending on the vehicle and registration status).

Comparison of Pad Characteristics

The graphs show the basic characteristics of the three compounds (scale 0–5).

BGM PRO Belagtyp organisch – Charakteristik
Organic: strong on cold rotors, comfortable, and easy to modulate.
BGM PRO Belagtyp sinter – Charakteristik
Sintered: more braking power and fade resistance—the choice for sporty road driving.
BGM PRO Belagtyp keramiksinter – Charakteristik
Ceramic-sintered: maximum performance at high temperatures—for consistent sports and racing use.

Advantages (organic)

✅ Excellent braking feel on cold rotors —practical for city driving and in changing conditions
✅ Quiet operation —tends to produce less squeaking noise than metallic compounds
✅ Balanced compromise between comfort, controllability, and service life
✅ KBA-approved

Braking Properly

Start off right: Discs and pads free of grease, calipers moving smoothly, pads installed correctly.
Warm up: 8–10 light braking actions from moderate speed (no hard braking).
Build up the friction layer: 6–8 firmer braking actions, allowing the brakes to cool down between each one.
Avoid heat buildup: Do not come to a stop with the brakes applied after hard braking—otherwise, pad marks may appear on the rotor.
Final: After the break-in period, the brake pedal feel will be more stable and the brakes will build up power more evenly.

Technical Specifications

Pad MaterialOrganic
Coefficient of frictionapprox. 0.3–0.6 (depending on temperature and contact pressure)
Operating rangeJust under 100 °C to approx. 250 °C
Note on overheating If used continuously above the maximum temperature, the resin on the surface may vitrify. Braking performance will decrease, and the braking distance may increase.

FAQ

For everyday use and touring, if you want brakes that are easy to modulate with good cold-weather performance and low noise levels.
If you regularly ride in very high temperatures (long mountain passes, heavy setups, very sporty riding style) and maximum durability is your top priority.
Yes. The pads and rotor should be clean and free of grease. Then, brake gently and consistently to allow an even friction layer to build up.

Note: Braking performance always depends on the rotor, its condition, the break-in process, and usage patterns.
