Clutch pressure plate -BGM PRO- needle bearing (PK XL2) for Vespa Smallframe
Item number: BGM8015 | Suitable for: Vespa V50, V90, SS50, SS90, PV125, ET3 and PK models (PK50, PK80, PK S, PK XL, PK XL2/FL2, ETS, PK50 HP) - not for automatics
If you've ever ridden a Smallframe with tight springs, you'll know what it's like: leverage forces like in the gym - and at high engine speeds, the standard solution starts to "work" at some point. This is exactly where the BGM PRO pressure plate with needle bearings comes in: less friction, more control, more reserves. A small part that immediately feels big when riding.
Axial needle bearing instead of ball bearing
Noticeably lower leverage
Speed stability during load changes
O-ring mounting without wire
Revisable: bearing and washer as spare parts
Why needle bearings?
Many pressure plates on the market work with conventional ball bearings. This works - until strong springs and high lateral forces come into play. The BGM PRO solution deliberately takes a different approach: a special axial needle roller bearing designed to reliably absorb lateral forces. Exactly what happens in everyday life with tight springs, high speeds and aggressive downshifting maneuvers.
Advantage 1: less friction, easier clutching
The AXK 1024 axial bearing ensures extremely good sliding properties. Result: The clutch is noticeably easier to operate, especially in combination with tight clutch springs. More comfort in city traffic - and more control with a sporty riding style.
Advantage 2: Reserves at speed and load changes
Where standard solutions (sintered bronze pressure plate) reach their limits at high speeds and with strong springs, the BGM PRO pressure plate remains stable. The bearing is designed for tough operating conditions and can cope with high speeds even when there is a heavy load when downshifting.
Advantage 3: Oil supply that thinks for itself
Six generously sized lubrication holes ensure that the bearing is reliably supplied with oil at all times - an important point for durability and consistently clean cutting.
Assembly
The pressure plate is simply inserted into the hole and secured using the pre-assembled O-ring. No more fiddling with safety wire - removal and servicing are just as easy.
Note: Check the free travel on the clutch lever
Unhook the clutch cable from the clutch cover and check the lever travel up to the first resistance.
Depending on the tolerances (auxiliary shaft, cone position, seal, friction disk pack), the installation clearance may vary.
If there is hardly any free travel, the clutch cover may need to be spaced to create sufficient free travel.
If there is no free travel, the clutch may slip under load.

Conclusion
The BGM PRO needle bearing pressure plate is one of those upgrades that you won't want to be without after the first test ride: easier clutching, more reserves with tight springs and clean separation even at high revs. Added to this is the uncomplicated O-ring assembly and the possibility of simply revising the part if necessary. This is what makes road tuning fun.
FAQ
It is suitable for smallframe clutches based on the PK XL2 principle and covers, among others V50, V90, SS50/90, PV125, ET3 as well as PK S, PK XL and PK XL2/FL2, with the exception of automatic vehicles.
An axial bearing is designed to absorb lateral forces - precisely the forces that occur with tight clutch springs and high engine speeds. As a result, the pressure plate and mushroom run with less friction, the operating forces are reduced and the solution remains stable even with a sporty driving style.
The free travel on the clutch lever is important. Please check how much travel the lever has up to the first resistance before fitting. If there is hardly any free travel, the clutch cover may need to be spaced to prevent the clutch from slipping under load.
Yes. Bearings and bearing thrust washers are available as spare parts. This allows the pressure plate to be overhauled or rebuilt after a part has been lost.
