EGIG 180 Complete Engine – 26–28 PS and 24–25 Nm. Powerful small-frame engine with a sporty MAMBA exhaust system, strong low-end torque, and impressive responsiveness. Fully assembled, tested, and tuned on the dynamometer by EGIG.
Important: Fill the transmission with oil before the first start. Frame modifications may be necessary for Vespa PK models.
180 cm³, up to 28 PS, and plenty of riding fun. The EGIG PERFORMANCE 180 combines the power of a racing engine with strong low-end torque, excellent rideability, and an unmistakable two-stroke sound. An engine for anyone who wants to really open up their Vespa Smallframe.
The best part: EGIG handles the entire engine build, including dynamometer tuning. Instead of a time-consuming tuning project, you get a professionally assembled engine whose components are already fine-tuned to work together.
The machined EGIG gray cast iron cylinder with a 65 mm bore and 54 mm stroke forms the foundation of the engine. Together with the 8-valve diaphragm, the Dell’Orto PHBH 30, and the MAMBA resonance exhaust system, this creates a powerful, high-revving engine with a broad usable power band.
A documented EGIG dynamometer comparison with the MAMBA exhaust system demonstrates just how much potential this design holds:
| Carburetor | Power | Torque |
|---|---|---|
| PHBH 30 | 29.7 PS | 26.1 Nm |
| VHSB 34 | 30.8 PS | 27.6 Nm |
Even with the PHBH 30, the comparison engine achieves nearly 30 PS. The larger VHSB 34 unlocks even more power. The test impressively demonstrates that the EGIG-180 concept has tuning potential beyond the offered configuration.
The Scooter Center engine offered here is tuned to 26–28 PS and 24–25 Nm. In return, the PHBH 30 offers a proven combination of high power, good throttle response, and relatively straightforward tuning characteristics.
Inside the VMC engine block is a precision-balanced EGIG/FABBRI crankshaft with a 54 mm stroke and 117 mm connecting rod length. The EGIG One Finger Clutch PRO, featuring five friction plates, combines high torque capacity with smooth operation.
The four-speed transmission uses an EGIG polygon secondary shaft (10/14/18/21), a CNC-machined primary shaft, and an EGIG shift pawl. The long first gear with 55 teeth and the 29/68 primary ratio (i = 2.34) are matched to the engine’s power and torque.
Ignition and cooling are provided by the SIP VAPE Sport AC and the EGIG High Flow fan. All internal components are professionally installed, calibrated, and tested during engine assembly.

The engine is fully assembled and delivered with the components specified for this Scooter Center configuration:
The engine is fully assembled and tuned. For installation in the vehicle, simply connect the corresponding vehicle-side connections, mount the required mounting parts, and check that everything is functioning properly.
Caution: The transmission oil is not filled for shipping reasons! The specified amount of oil must be added before starting the engine for the first time.
The EGIG engine concept is designed for classic Vespa small-frame models such as the V50, Primavera, and ET3. For PK models, frame modifications may be necessary when using the MAMBA exhaust system installed here. For PK installation without frame modifications, EGIG offers the appropriate UNISEX D&F version.
Due to the engine’s high power output, the braking system, suspension, and tires should be rated to match this performance level. Road approval is not automatically granted.
Yes. EGIG fully assembles the engine and tunes the carburetor and ignition system for the complete engine. Finally, a functional and performance test is conducted on the dynamometer.
The proven Dell’Orto offers an excellent combination of power, throttle response, and an easily controllable tuning profile. An EGIG dynamometer comparison with MAMBA already shows 29.7 PS with the PHBH 30 and additional potential with a larger carburetor.
Yes, the internal engine assembly is complete. However, after installation in the vehicle, the vehicle-side connections must be made and tested. Gear oil must also be added before the first start.
With the included EGIG MAMBA, frame adjustments may be necessary. EGIG specifies that installation without frame modifications on PK models is only possible with the appropriate UNISEX-D&F exhaust system.
