The BGS Technic die holders are designed for securely holding and manually operating threading dies. They are used for cutting new external threads as well as reworking suitable existing external threads. The products are available in different versions for different die sizes.
The round holder head accommodates the die securely. Multiple clamping screws secure the inserted tool and prevent unwanted movement of the die inside the holder. Two opposing steel handles allow controlled transmission of the rotary movement required for thread cutting.
The holder head is made of die-cast zinc and features five clamping screws for securing the die. The radially arranged screws ensure that the inserted threading tool is securely fixed inside the holder.
As the products are designed for different holder sizes, the die holder must be selected to match the outside diameter and design of the die being used.
The steel handles positioned on both sides allow the die holder to be guided with both hands. Their symmetrical arrangement enables the turning force to be transferred as evenly as possible to the die. This supports controlled guidance when starting the thread and throughout the cutting process.
Depending on the version, the steel handle width is 215 mm or 315 mm. The handles can be unscrewed and feature knurled grip areas at their outer ends.
The die holder is intended for manual machining of external threads. Before starting work, the workpiece should be prepared appropriately and the die positioned straight in relation to the workpiece axis. Tilting the tool during use can impair the quality of the thread and may damage the die or workpiece.
A suitable cutting lubricant for the material being machined can support the cutting process and chip removal. Controlled periodic reverse rotation of the die can help break the chips produced during thread cutting.
Only use dies that fit the respective holder size. Before starting work, check that the die is correctly positioned and securely fixed. Wear suitable protective gloves and safety glasses during machining.
