The Remus systems convince not only by their high quality workmanship and perfect fit, by their manufacture of stainless steel they also put an end to the rusting known from the original pot!
The sophisticated suspension system with springs also simplifies the tension-free installation of the system.
The shape nestles very nicely to the lines of the Vespa, and pleases with its discreet, not too futuristic way.
The sound is an experience, the exhaust bubbles when taking off the gas that it is a joy.
By omitting the DB-Eater, the whole thing can of course be changed even further (but is then no longer neighbor-friendly and also the approval is omitted).
Both from form, function and performance a real improvement over the original.
We deliver our Remus systems WITHOUT catalytic converter and have so compared to the original exhaust a performance plus of about half a horsepower at the rear wheel. TÜV and approval conformity, however, they are only for vehicles whose homologation date is before 01.01.2006 (Euro1 or Euro2 emission standard).
All vehicles with Euro3 emissions standard (homologation from 01.01.2006) still require the optionally available slide-in catalytic converter (see accessories) for approval.
CONCLUSION: More power, better sound, better optics, never again rust, with homologation = purchase tip!
NOTE for vehicles from 125ccm with homologation date after 01.01.2006: These may only be operated with a regulated catalytic converter.
If this is removed, the operating license expires.
Vehicles with Euro3 standard can be recognized by the embossed test marks on the original exhaust system:
The last two circled numbers are decisive here.
The 5 confirms the homologation for a Euro3 tested vehicle.
The 9 confirms compliance with the noise limits.
Many manufacturers of aftermarket and sport exhaust systems limit themselves only to the homologation of the rear silencer with regard to the noise values (9).
These can only be legally used in road traffic in conjunction with an optional catalytic converter. The slide-in catalytic converter then has the marking (5)
Remus and Akrapovic offer their systems with optional catalytic converter slide-in. This makes them approved as full replacements and compliant with registration.
Malossi and LeoVince do not currently offer this option.
I.e. these systems are equipped without a catalytic converter, on the part of the manufacturer there are no retrofit cats (as of 11.2014) and therefore officially not approved for operation on vehicles with homologation from 01.01.2006 (Euro3).
How do I know which emission standard my scooter has?
Euro3 vehicles can be recognized by the fact that they:
- have mandatory fuel injection (i.E.)
- use a controlled catalytic converter with lambda sensor
.
The key numbers in the vehicle registration certificate provide the most reliable information:
Euro1 and Euro2
Old vehicle registration certificate: Number 1,2 Key: 00, 09, 10
New vehicle registration certificate: Number 14.1 Key 020, 029 or 0210
Euro3
New vehicle registration certificate: Number 14.1 Key 0212
NOTE: The original suspension of the Vespa GT/GTS models is tuned very soft. Therefore, a sport exhaust can graze the fairing when the suspension is compressed strongly. This can be remedied by converting to better tuned sports mufflers, e.g. from BGM (see accessories).
