Aluminium at its finest! The silver CNC-machined oil sump from TR-Factory demonstrates how a functional engine component can become a genuine highlight of a sophisticated Vespa custom build. Precision machining marks, metallic reflections and an exceptionally sculpted surface structure make this elaborately manufactured oil sump a distinctive eye-catcher. Here, the focus is not on colour but on the material itself – with all its reflections, textures and technical details.
The TR-Factory oil sump is CNC-machined from 6061 aluminium and replaces the original Piaggio oil sump with part number B013437. It is intended for corresponding Piaggio IGET and LEM engines with displacements from 125 to 200 cc. An integrated oil sight glass complements the technical features and blends seamlessly into the distinctive aluminium construction.
The silver version features a clean, authentic aluminium appearance. Unlike colour-coated variants, the different machining textures remain particularly visible. Fine, parallel milling marks meet smooth, light-reflecting surfaces, giving the component a lively metallic finish.
Depending on the viewing angle, the appearance of the individual contours changes. The elongated ribs sometimes appear bright and glossy, while at other angles the fine machining patterns give them a slightly matt appearance. The transitions between the raised sections and recessed surfaces create particularly impressive visual depth.
The engraved TR-Factory logo blends seamlessly into this design. Rather than simply being printed onto the surface, it forms an integral part of the machined aluminium itself. Together with the precisely finished edges, this creates a premium technical appearance that perfectly complements classic aluminium details, silver wheels and modern custom styling concepts.
A special feature of this oil sump is the integrated sight glass for additional visual inspection of the engine oil level. The circular viewing window is positioned on the outside of the housing and surrounded by an elaborately machined aluminium mounting.
Three visible hex socket screws are arranged evenly around the sight glass. Circular machining details, stepped rings and narrow recesses give the mounting its own distinctive technical design. With the consistent silver finish, the emphasis is not on colour contrasts but on the different surface textures and precise geometry.
The sight glass provides an additional visual inspection option alongside conventional oil level checks. The inspection conditions and maintenance instructions specified by the vehicle manufacturer remain authoritative.
The product images clearly demonstrate the extensive machining involved. Several elongated, raised ribs extend across the exterior of the housing. Finely machined intermediate surfaces, geometric recesses and triangular structural elements complement the design. The interaction of these details creates a pronounced three-dimensional appearance.
The interior is also carefully shaped to match the housing geometry. Generously sized, smoothly machined recesses, precise transitions and the continuous sealing surface define the construction. Several mounting holes and threaded fixing points are integrated into the housing.
The silver surface makes the different machining operations particularly easy to recognise. It is precisely this combination of smooth internal contours and textured exterior surfaces that gives the oil sump its characteristic CNC appearance.
The listed vehicle ranges include different engine and equipment variants. Compatibility depends on the vehicle using the original Piaggio oil sump with part number B013437. Before ordering, the vehicle details and the original fitted part number must be checked against each other.
Before installation, the sealing surfaces must be thoroughly cleaned and the required gaskets replaced in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications. The original Piaggio oil sump gasket carries part number B014152. Whether this gasket or any additional installation components are included in the scope of delivery must be checked before fitting.
The engine oil level must be checked under the conditions specified by the vehicle manufacturer. These include, in particular, a level surface and the correct vehicle position. The integrated sight glass provides an additional visual inspection option but does not replace the manufacturer's specifications regarding oil level, oil quantity and maintenance.
Depending on the vehicle model, the variator cover may partially obstruct the view of the oil sight glass. Before installation, it should be checked whether the sight glass will remain sufficiently visible once fitted. Modifications or a suitable cover may be required.
The silver TR-Factory oil sump is a special detail for anyone who appreciates precision metalworking. Its openly visible CNC machining patterns, clearly defined aluminium surfaces and integrated sight glass transform a functional replacement part into a premium custom component. An oil sump that reveals its attention to technical detail at first glance.
