Polini Evolution fork for Piaggio Zip SP and Vespa Smallframe
New Polini development that greatly improves the safety and performance of racing vehicles in the Polini Italian Cup. In the open 100cc class, performance values and speeds of over 30 hp / 160 km/h are achieved. The standard fork is quickly overtaxed here due to the choice of material and dimensions. This is where the Polini fork comes in, offering extremely high rigidity thanks to a significantly more solid wall thickness.
The central part is made from precision casting and then machined using sophisticated 5-axis CNC machines. It is powder-coated and resistant to corrosion and weathering. The height of the fork can be adjusted before installation using the adapters supplied. The total weight is 1.1 kg more than the original weight of an original Piaggio ZIP SP fork and therefore helps to transfer high engine power to the asphalt in a controlled manner.
A nice gimmick to make shock absorber installation easier, especially on race tracks, is the option of securing the upper retaining bolts of the shock absorber mounting plate (M8) with locking pins. This prevents them from being pressed out of their seat during installation. The fork is supplied with the steering stop plate. The mudguard bracket is bolted on, making it easy to remove and adapt to other mudguard models.
A small kit with stoppers, bolts and bearings is included for easy assembly and disassembly of the original swingarm. A sufficiently dimensioned press is recommended for the conversion. Alternatively, Polini's own swingarm can be used, which is very easy to fit (item 0502660, see also accessories).
MODIFICATION FOR VESPA SMALLFRAME
The fork can also be used in Vespa Smallframe models by modifying the head tube (shortening). This requires an adapter piece which is welded into the fork. Polini offers this separately (Art. 0502656, see also accessories).
Polini also recommends converting to tapered roller steering bearings (see accessories)
