BGM Pro gear parts are made of ultra-solid material. The gears are manufactured in Europe from high-alloy NiCrMo case-hardening steel (14NiCrMo13) to withstand the highest loads.
The precisely machined, high-quality base material is then hardened at thyssenkrupp and is therefore ready for maximum engine performance. To guarantee precisely this, BGM gear wheels are subjected to extensive series of tests.
PRÜFLABOR
pulsation tests in a German test laboratory, in which we compared the very stable old original Piaggio gears with our BGM prototypes, showed a 50 % higher load capacity of the BGM gears. The precisely defined surface hardening to 58-60HRC also makes the sprockets extremely resistant to wear. Better than Piaggio goods. Consistently high quality. No compromises.
APPLICATION
Suitable for all types of use, whether Tourer or Racer.
The gear ratios correspond exactly to the original Piaggio sprockets. A shorter reduction fourth gear is also available. The gears can be combined with all commercially available auxiliary shafts, which are also approved for use with standard transmission parts.
GEAR TYPE 42
The BGM PRO gear wheels correspond to the latest version as introduced by Piaggio from 1976. Colloquially known as the so-called PK gearbox, it was already used in the ET3 models and the V50 Special. Original gear wheels of the new type can be recognized by the cast-in number/letter combination. The gear wheels of the PK type start with '42' and end with '/s'.
The BGM PRO gear wheels are therefore also marked '42'.
FITTING
The BGM Pro gearwheels therefore fit all engines that have this gearbox type ex works or have already been converted to it. No new main shaft is required to convert older engines/vehicles (pre-1976). Only the gear wheels and the PK type gear claw (height=50 mm),
3-speed conversion
3-speed engines can also be easily converted to four-speed gearboxes with the appropriate gear claw (height=50 mm) and the BGM Pro gear wheels.
Austria gearbox
The Austrian mopeds have a longer secondary gearbox.
The BGM Pro gearbox can be converted here if the secondary shaft is also replaced. This gearbox was also used on vehicles for other markets (e.g. Portugal).
Exceptions
Vespa V50 1° series (V5A1T) with 1° series engine (V5A1M up to engine number 92876): These engines have a narrower engine housing and a narrower main shaft. Conversion is not possible here.
