The AF Clo5e Ratio 5-speed gearbox for Lambretta uses the proven gradation of the AF Close Ratio 4-speed gearbox. As a 5th gear, the gradation of the 4th gear of the classic Pacemaker transmission with 19/35 was added.
1 gear: 10/45
2 gear: 13/41
3 gear: 16/38
4th gear: 18/36
SPORTTOURER
With an 18/46 sprocket/wheel combination and the 4-speed with 35 teeth, you achieve a relatively long total gear ratio of 4.71 (coincidentally exactly the same as a standard Vespa PX200). This means that at 6000 rpm in 4th gear you are at just over 90 km/h. If you shift into fifth gear here, the speed only drops by 500 rpm to 5500 rpm. Here, for example, a BGM RT225 engine with Clubman exhaust already has its full torque and pulls through fifth gear (7500 rpm = 125 km/h).
In general, the narrow gear ratios offer the great advantage that you do not fall out of the usable power band, even with a rather pointed engine characteristic. This means that the tractive power at the rear wheel remains at a high level and the engine achieves a high top speed thanks to the additional gear and the relatively long reduction ratio in absolute terms. Even in fourth gear, over 100 km/h is easily possible.
CRUISING
If you don't need or want such a close gradation between 4th and 5th gear, you can alternatively use the longer 5th gear with 34 teeth. In combination with a slightly shorter 17/46, you can achieve a total gear ratio of 4.84. This makes the vehicle more agile in the lower gears without losing much top speed in direct comparison. A nice solution for relaxed touring with lots of luggage and/or two-person operation. In fourth gear, you can still cram up every mountain and still have a gear left for the highway or flat country road.
SCOPE OF DELIVERY
The scope of delivery includes the gears, the shifting claw and the auxiliary shaft. The AF Clo5e Ratio can be completed with standard components. We recommend high-quality components such as the BGM PRO main shaft as a supplement.
