MALOSSI MHR Team 2 internal rotor ignition for Piaggio 50 cc AC
Manages several maps simultaneously without having to resort to a handheld device, with a simple click. Possibility to change the selected map by moving the OFFSET (± 2°)
The internal rotor ignition systems developed by Malossi are based on the most advanced technology used in racing. This new system was born from the need to overcome the technical limitations of conventional flywheel ignition, which cannot guarantee constant power above 10,000 rpm and causes serious adjustment problems on racing vehicles.
We have made the control unit even less sensitive to interference by developing an 8-bit uP STM8 microprocessor with a processing speed of 20 MIPS: It guarantees more precise ignition timing control than previous versions!
The MHR Team II has a non-adjustable control unit with 3 trimmers and variable ignition timing adjustment:
- the first trimmer (MAPS) is used to select the ignition timing
- the second trimmer (OFFSET) allows the selected map to be shifted by ± 2°
With the third trimmer (LIM), which is used especially for 4-stroke engines, you can vary the speed limit between 11,500 and 14,300 rpm and also deactivate the speed limiter.
It also has 8 preset maps, which are described as follows:
- 1 variable ignition advance map for 4-stroke engines
- 6 variable ignition timing maps for 2-stroke engines
- 1 fixed ignition timing map
Other key components have also been revised, such as the high-voltage coil, which can now deliver a maximum discharge voltage of >40 KV at normal engine speeds from >3000 rpm and an exceptional ramp-up time at 10 bar > 1750 V/uS. One of the most important innovations is the new rotor/stator unit, which has a completely redesigned static component in terms of mechanics and electronics.
The installation instructions clearly show the optimum setting of the ignition advance for different engines.
The electrical performance has been improved by 20 %. The minimum starting speed has been reduced from 450 rpm to 370 rpm. The effects of this latest development can be seen in the increased voltage at the spark plug at the same engine speed, which is anything but negligible compared to the previous model.
