Advantages at a glance

Sport advance curve: more pre-ignition at low revs for noticeably more torque, pre-ignition decreases in the higher range.
Stable pole wheel: manufactured in one piece, precisely balanced and with exact concentricity.
110 W power: high electrical reserves even at low engine speeds.
12V DC on-board power supply: useful for battery, SIP speedometer and digital consumers because the supply remains stable.
Black Edition: black matt anodized CNC fan wheel if the pole wheel is to remain visible.

Ignition - SIP VAPE SPORT Black Edition - 12V DC - Vespa Smallframe Ø20mm cone

The SIP PERFORMANCE by VAPE Sport "Black Edition" is a variable 12V DC ignition for smallframe engines with Ø20 mm cone. Technically it corresponds to the proven SIP VAPE Sport ignition, visually the black matt anodized CNC fan wheel is added as a visible style update. Ideal for setups that want to use a variable curve to get more pre-ignition and thus more torque at the bottom.

DC or AC?

AC is the classic solution for models without a battery. DC is interesting if you operate a battery or connect digital consumers, because the on-board power supply is then supplied stably from the battery.

Note (SIP): With DC in conjunction with SIP tachometers, a signal filter may be necessary depending on the setup or the signal routing may need to be adapted.

Setting and installation

Markings: Ignition timing is marked on the pole wheel and base plate, so basic adjustment is also possible without a flash lamp (TDC must be determined correctly).
Pickup arrangement: arranged in two parts one behind the other, therefore less sensitive to lateral misalignment.
Polewheel puller: original pole wheel puller also fits SIP VAPE.

Suitable for

Note: This version is designed for Ø20 mm cone. It can also be used on older engine generations with contact ignition and small Ø19 mm cone if the engine has been converted to a crankshaft with Ø20 mm cone.

FAQ

More pre-ignition at low revs provides more torque, while the pre-ignition is reduced at higher revs. This makes combustion run cooler and the usable rev range is wider.
DC is useful when a battery is being operated or digital consumers are to be supplied. The voltage remains stable even when the engine is not running.
Yes, if the engine has been converted to a crankshaft with a Ø20 mm cone. Many older engines have a Ø19 mm cone ex works.
