VAPE QUALITY

UPGRADING CONTACT IGNITION
The VAPE system fully replaces the original contact ignition while providing a modern, high-performance 12V alternator. The strong permanent magnets in the one-piece flywheel generate powerful ignition current and bright lighting even at low revs. The engine starts noticeably better, as the strong spark compensates for increased resistance (e.g. fouled spark plug or too much fuel in the crankcase).
The significantly higher lighting output, even at low revs, also adds a huge safety advantage in road traffic. On top of that, the ignition is completely maintenance-free.

IGNITION TIMING?
We supply the VAPE ignition with a CDI featuring a so-called static ignition timing. Unlike four-strokes, two-stroke engines do not require dynamic timing due to gas dynamics in the combustion chamber. The required ignition angle remains nearly linear, even at increasing rpm, thanks to the faster-burning mixture. Only extreme race engines with power bands starting above 6000 rpm may benefit from dynamic timing. For virtually all road-going scooter engines, dynamic ignition timing is actually counterproductive. The high advance at low rpm makes the engine harsh and uneven, and the decreasing advance at high rpm often reduces power. For these reasons, we use a CDI with static timing. This works perfectly on stock engines as well as highly tuned engines. Our VAPE ignition can, of course, be equipped with a dynamically advancing CDI if desired.
INSTALLATION / IGNITION TIMING
A great feature of our VAPE ignition is that it can be set without strobing — no timing light needed. The VAPE conversion ignition is therefore easy to install and can be fitted without special tools. Thanks to the included printed installation manual, even skilled amateurs will have no trouble with installation.
FLYWHEEL / FAN WHEEL
The VAPE ignition always uses the same flywheel (except for the cone size and mounting height, which are matched to the engine). It has a single key slot for positioning on the crankshaft — incorrect installation is impossible. The matching mass moment is achieved by the fan wheel. This allows you to adjust flywheel mass simply by changing the fan wheel. The included fan wheel is CNC machined from solid aluminium. It perfectly matches the engine type and features optimized fan blade geometry for maximum cooling and best performance. Flywheel and fan wheel are precisely balanced.
