Clever solution from MRP to continue drawing in cool air from the frame when using larger carburetors.
The opening in the frame has a size of approx. 60x44mm. The area is therefore equivalent to a carburetor with a cross-section of over Ø50mm. The intake hose solution therefore offers no loss of performance even on very powerful engines. Due to the cooler intake air, better performance results can be expected under high loads, which would otherwise heat up the intake air under the side cover.
Another major advantage is that the frame can also be used as sound insulation. Engines that have been converted to intake control via a diaphragm can thus drastically minimize the noise level of the intake noise. For this purpose, the frame can also be lined on the inside with sound-absorbing material.
TIP: It is essential to retain/mount the standard plastic molded part underneath the tank. Otherwise the intake noise from the area of the horn (frame tunnel opening) will be quite loud. An additional pipe can be inserted into the frame in the intake cut-out under the front seat mounting. This breaks up the sound again and suppresses the mid to low frequency range of the intake noise.
This variant with an outer diameter of 60 mm is suitable for the following carburettors:
The tank does not have to be removed for installation! The intake hose adapter can be easily fitted from the outside in 5 minutes.
