Genuine Piaggio key blank with integrated transponder for various Vespa models with an electronic immobilizer. The key is intended for making a new or additional operating key and is listed under Piaggio original part number 1B004020.
The key blank combines the mechanical key blade with the transponder required for the immobilizer. Two steps are therefore necessary before the key can be used on the vehicle: the key blade must be cut to match the existing locking system and the transponder must then be programmed to the vehicle electronics.
The key has a dark blue plastic head with a compact, asymmetrically rounded shape. The Vespa logo is embossed on the front. A round opening positioned in an upper corner of the key head allows attachment to a key ring.
The metal key blade is supplied uncut. The longitudinal key profile with a central guide groove, the lateral profile areas and the pre-shaped tip of the blank are clearly visible. The individual coding for the respective vehicle is only created by mechanically cutting the key blade.
Piaggio original part number: 1B004020.
The key is supplied as an uncut blank. Before programming the transponder, the key blade must already have been mechanically cut to match the existing vehicle key or locking system.
New keys with a transponder must be programmed to the vehicle's electronic immobilizer before first use. On appropriately equipped Piaggio and Vespa immobilizer systems, the brown master key is required for this procedure.
Important: The individual programming steps must be carried out quickly one after another. No more than 10 seconds may elapse between changing keys.
After completing the programming procedure, check the behaviour of the immobilizer indicator light. Then insert the new key and attempt to start the vehicle. If the vehicle starts normally, the key has been programmed successfully.
Note: The brown master key is essential for this programming procedure. Existing operating keys must be programmed again during the same programming sequence if they are to remain usable.
The procedure described applies to appropriately equipped Piaggio and Vespa immobilizer systems using a brown master key. Programming may differ on other generations of immobilizer systems.
