Genuine Piaggio key blank with integrated transponder for Vespa vehicles with an electronic immobilizer and Minda locking system. The key is intended as a replacement or additional operating key. The corresponding Piaggio original part numbers are 1B004812 and 656873.
Two steps are required before the key can be used on the vehicle: First, the key blade must be mechanically cut to match the existing lock. The transponder integrated into the key head must then be programmed to the vehicle's electronic immobilizer.
The key has a brown plastic head with an asymmetric, rounded basic shape. The surface has a fine texture and a matt finish. A round opening integrated into the key head allows attachment to a key ring.
The housing construction of the key head can be clearly identified in the images by the circumferential joint. The silver-coloured key blade has a longitudinal profile with pronounced guide grooves and side contours. An embossed marking is visible in the transition area between the key head and key blade.
The key is supplied as an uncut blank. The key profile shown is designed for the corresponding Minda locking system and must be compared with the existing original key before ordering.
Piaggio original part numbers: 1B004812 and 656873.
Piaggio used different locking systems and key profiles depending on the model, year and vehicle version. This key blank is intended for the corresponding Minda system. Before ordering, the profile of the key blade should therefore be compared in particular with the existing original key.
The key blank is not ready for use when supplied. Before programming the transponder, the key blade must already have been mechanically cut to match the existing vehicle key or ignition lock.
New keys with a transponder must be programmed to the vehicle's electronic immobilizer before first use. On appropriately equipped Piaggio and Vespa immobilizer systems, the brown master key is required for this procedure.
Important: The individual programming steps must be carried out quickly one after another. No more than 10 seconds may elapse between changing keys.
After completing the programming procedure, check the behaviour of the immobilizer indicator light. Then insert the new key and attempt to start the engine. If the engine starts normally, the key has been programmed successfully.
Note: The brown master key is essential for this programming procedure. Existing operating keys must be programmed again during the same programming sequence if they are to remain usable.
The procedure described applies to appropriately equipped Piaggio and Vespa immobilizer systems using a brown master key. Programming may differ on other generations of immobilizer systems.
