The bgm EVOLUTION crankshafts are very cleanly finished and impress with well thought-out details:
The long-stroke version with 55 mm stroke has a longer connecting rod (110 mm instead of 105 mm as standard). This ensures smoother running, less piston load and more scope for adjusting the cylinder control angle.
CONCLUSION
Very nice, stable and well-balanced crankshaft, which should be the basis for a perfectly healthy engine.
SPECIAL FEATURES LONG STROKE
The 55 mm long-stroke crankshaft provides an elegant way to achieve more displacement and longer cylinder control angles. This can significantly increase performance even further.
Please note that the additional stroke of 3 mm must be compensated for with a corresponding 1.5 mm compensating gasket on the cylinder head or cylinder base. The required 5 mm spacer (not included) only compensates for the longer connecting rod. The additional stroke of 3 mm must therefore also be compensated for by a 1.5 mm gasket or a correspondingly turned cylinder head.
A base gasket increases the control angle of the cylinder and thus creates the conditions for a sporty and speed-oriented power delivery. For full power, however, the exhaust angle often has to be increased in order to compensate for the disproportionately increased overflow angle compared to the exhaust angle. For everyday engines, it is usually advisable to compensate for the stroke with a 1.5 mm head gasket (or an appropriate cylinder head).
NOTE
The lifting of the cylinder at the cylinder base required for long-stroke crankshafts also shifts the screw-on point of the exhaust. This may have to be modified accordingly so that it can be fitted to the engine/cylinder again without bracing.
