Fork upgrade for Vespa PK, PX, T5 and Cosa
In hard use - especially in sidecar operation or with tightly tuned sports suspensions - the bearings of the front brake drum and brake anchor plate of the Vespa PK, PX, Cosa and T5 models are subjected to significantly higher loads than in standard condition. The standard, narrow needle bearings quickly reach their limits here, which can lead to worn axles and increased wear on the drum and fork mount.
Our upgrade with extra-wide needle roller bearings significantly increases the load-bearing contact surface of the front axle. The higher radial forces from braking manoeuvres, potholes, grippy tires and trailer operation are thus distributed over a wider bearing zone, which stabilizes the guidance of the axle and noticeably increases the service life of the components. The wider bearing package is a useful addition to the reinforced fork and damper technology, especially for sporty vehicles, heavy touring trunks or sidecars.
The bearings are available both individually and as a complete set. This means that either the brake drum alone can be fitted with a wider bearing or the brake anchor plate can also be optimized - depending on the intended use and the desired design of the front axle and fork.
Depending on the brake anchor plate and manufacturing tolerance, the bearing seat can be very tight when using two extra-wide needle roller bearings. In some cases, there is very little space for the V-ring and the grease reservoir between the bearings.
Practical reports show that the set can be fitted to many mounts without any problems, while some Lusso brake anchor plates are much tighter. If you want a pronounced grease cushion and sufficient space for the sealing ring, you can combine a wide bearing with a narrow standard bearing and thus make optimum use of the available bearing seat.
Recommendation: Before finally fitting the bearings, carefully measure the width of the bearing seat, V-ring and bearing package and, if necessary, select a combination of a wide and narrow bearing.
Die Lager machen einen guten Eindruck und passen. Zur Haltbarkeit kann ich natürlich noch nichts sagen.
