The BGM PRO pole wheel is a perfect replica of the original PX200 Elestart pole wheel. With its large curved blades, it has a high fan performance, ideal for large cast iron cylinders such as the Polini 210. At 2.1 kilograms, the BGM PRO Touring pole wheel is 200 grams lighter than its original Piaggio counterpart. This makes it very agile to ride when accelerating and the engine retains its superior elasticity. It can be used 1:1 as a replacement for the original Piaggio PX200 Elestart pole wheel.
FEATURES
WEIGHT
At 2100 grams, the BGM8225RTE (T for Touring, E for electric start) is 200 grams lighter than the original pole wheel of the PX Elestart models. It offers the ideal combination of sufficient flywheel mass for a powerful starting torque and a lighter weight for a lively revving of the engine and better acceleration. Compared to the very heavy pole gears of the older PX models (without Elestart), it offers between 17 and 28 % less flywheel mass. The ring gear can also be removed (by heating), reducing the weight to 1,900 grams.
PERFORMANCE / COOLING
The cooling blades are curved and have the largest surface area of all pole wheels for the PX engines. Piaggio introduced this blade profile for the first time on the legendary SS180 engines. This guarantees high fan performance at all times, even at low engine speeds. The high cooling capacity is ideal for thermally critical engines, such as a Polini 207 cast iron engine with SI24 carburetor, which is to be driven at full throttle on the freeway or has to cope with a heavy load when used as a sidecar.
ELESTART
The pole wheel has a ring gear for the electric starter. It can therefore be installed and driven on all models with an electric starter.
RECOMMENDATION
We recommend the BGM8225RTE for all engines with high thermal loads or as a perfect replacement for the original Piaggio pole wheel. The less basic power the engine has (PX80/PX125), the heavier the flywheel weight should be. Very light flywheels (under 1600 grams) usually offer no advantages here.
