Genuine Piaggio brake arm for the mechanical operation of the rear drum brake. The component connects the rear brake cable to the brake operating shaft and converts the linear movement of the brake cable into a rotational movement of the brake shaft.
The brake cable is attached to the outer end of the brake arm using a barrel-shaped adapter. The shape of the lever and the position of the mounting points are designed for the corresponding brake system of the listed Vespa and Piaggio models.
The product images show a multi-part, angled brake arm. A splined mount is located on the brake shaft side. The slotted section allows the brake arm to be clamped onto the shaft and provides a positive connection for transmitting the operating force.
At the opposite end are two parallel tabs with round holes. This section is used to connect the rear brake cable via the barrel-shaped adapter. Additional formed sections and stops are also visible on the brake arm and are part of the vehicle-specific brake actuation design.
As part of the mechanical rear brake system, the brake arm is a safety-relevant component. When replacing it, particular attention must be paid to the splines of the brake shaft, the correct seating of the brake arm and the connection to the brake cable.
After installation, the brake cable play and the function of the rear drum brake must be adjusted and checked according to the vehicle specifications.
