O-ring engine swing arm -BGM PRO- 21 x 3.00 mm - Piaggio and Gilera maxi scooters

The BGM PRO O-ring with 21 x 3.00 mm dimensions seals the engine swing arm against the frame or the bearing bush. It protects the swing arm bearing against the ingress of water and dirt and thus makes a decisive contribution to the clean lateral guidance of the engine - a component that receives special attention during the technical inspection of the chassis components.

In contrast to many simple retrofit parts made of NBR, BGM PRO uses high-quality EPDM material. This is significantly more resistant to ageing, ozone and weathering and retains its elasticity over a long period of time. As a result, the bearing point of the engine swing arm is better protected and the function of the entire engine suspension is stabilized.

Function and area of application

The O-ring is located in the area of the engine swing arm and seals the transition between the engine mount and frame or bearing bolt. It prevents water, dirt and road salt from reaching the swing arm bushes directly and causing corrosion or increased wear.

Protects the swing arm bearing from moisture and dirt for smooth engine guidance.
Supports precise driving behavior, especially at higher speeds and under load.
Useful addition for every overhaul of the engine swing arm bearings or when replacing the silent blocks.

Material and dimensions

Dimensions: 21 x 3.00 mm (inner diameter x cord thickness)
Material: BGM PRO EPDM, designed for long-term resistance to weathering and ageing
Area of application: Engine swing arm / engine mount of various Piaggio and Gilera maxi scooters

Installation instructions

The O-ring should always be pushed onto a clean, lightly greased surface. Damaged or hardened old parts must always be replaced. Particularly after replacing the silentbloc bearings, it is advisable to replace the O-rings at the same time in order to provide optimum protection for the overhauled bearings.

It has proven to be a good idea to apply a little acid-free assembly grease or multi-purpose grease to the O-ring before fitting. This makes it easier to insert into the groove and prevents it from being damaged or twisted when the bearing pin is pushed on.

Note: If in doubt, always check the dimensions of the existing O-ring and the design of the swingarm bearing on your own vehicle.

FAQ: O-ring engine swing arm BGM PRO 21 x 3.00 mm

Frequently asked questions

How many O-rings are required per vehicle?
Depending on the design of the engine swing arm mount, 4 O-rings are generally used. Two O-rings are often fitted on each side.
What is the advantage of EPDM over simple NBR?
EPDM is significantly more resistant to ozone, ageing and weathering. The O-ring remains elastic for longer, seals reliably and does not harden as quickly. Especially in the exposed position of the engine swing arm, this is a plus for durability.
When should the O-ring be replaced?
The O-rings should be replaced at the latest when the engine swing arm bearings or silent blocks are replaced. Visible cracks, flattened cross-sections or brittle material are a clear sign that they are due for replacement.
Is there anything special to bear in mind when fitting?
The O-ring should not be pulled dry over sharp edges. A little assembly grease or multi-purpose grease makes it easier to push on and prevents damage. It is also important that the O-ring is not twisted in its groove so that the sealing effect is fully maintained.
