XXL tank for classic largeframe setups

The PLC CORSE XXL tank made of glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) is aimed at all those who want to equip their Vespa or Motovespa Largeframe with more range and reserves. With a capacity of around 9.8 liters, the tank offers a significant increase compared to the standard tank - ideal for touring, powerful engines and long-distance use.

The tank is supplied with a bayonet fuel filler cap (external cap) and is designed for vehicles in which the side cover is secured with a classic external cap. In these models, there is sufficient space inside the frame to accommodate the larger tank body.

Vespa & Motovespa: Focus on external closure

In terms of design, the PLC CORSE XXL tank is intended for large-frame vehicles without an internal hood closing hook under the seat bench. These include classic Vespa models in the 125-200 cc series from VNA/VBA to GT/GTR, Sprint/Super and Rally and first-generation P/PX models (P/PX old). In the Motovespa range, the tank fits the corresponding Spanish largeframe variants with external cap, for example 125 CL, 150 CL, 150 S, 150 Sprint, 160/GT or 200 DS.

On later Largeframe models with an internal hood closing hook under the seat (PX Lusso, LML, Motovespa Iris, T5, TX etc.), the hood hook collides with the enlarged tank body - the XXL tank cannot be used in these vehicles.

Large volume & fuel pump

Thanks to its larger volume, the PLC CORSE tank is particularly interesting for tuned engines and setups with increased fuel consumption. The integrated fuel pump ensures that the fuel supply remains reliable even under heavy acceleration, high continuous speed and heavily lowered carburetors. In conjunction with a clean line design and correctly routed return line, a very stable supply system can be created.

GRP construction

The tank body is made of GRP (glass fiber reinforced plastic). This allows free shaping inside the frame, low weight and freedom from corrosion on the inside wall of the tank. As with all GRP tanks, a clean, particle-free fuel system (filter, clean hoses, high-quality fuel) is recommended for operation in order to avoid deposits.

Important: External cap vs. internal cap (hood hook)

The PLC CORSE XXL tank is designed for vehicles with an external tank cap, in which the side cover is locked via the classic cap on the outside of the frame. In these models, the full installation space is available inside the frame.

On later large-frame models with internal hood locking hooks under the seat (e.g. Vespa PX Lusso, LML, Motovespa Iris, T5, TX), the hood hook reaches into the frame from above - precisely in the area used by the enlarged XXL tank. This leads to collisions and the tank cannot be used in these vehicles.

Rule of thumb: PX/PX old up to approx. 1984 (outer cap) - suitable. PX Lusso & comparable Motovespa variants with inner cap - not suitable.

Yes, all classic Vespa Largeframe models with an external cap - such as GT/GTR, Sprint/Sprint Veloce, Super, GS/SS and Rally - can be fitted with the PLC CORSE XXL tank. The decisive factor is that there is no internal hood hook under the seat.
The tank is designed for Motovespa Largeframe models with an external cap, e.g. 125/150 CL, 150 S, 150 Sprint, 160/GT or 200 DS. Models with internal canopy closing hooks (Iris, TX etc.) are not suitable. If in doubt, take a look under the seat: if a hood hook is integrated in the frame, the XXL tank cannot be fitted.
Due to the larger tank volume, we recommend a clean line routing with suitable hose cross-sections and secure fastening. The fuel pump supplied ensures sufficient flow, even with heavily lowered carburetors or high continuous output. Please ensure that the lines are fuel-proof and check the system thoroughly for leaks after installation.
