The genuine Royal Alloy footboard trim strip with part number 0312020017-10-001 is designed for the front centre section of the right footboard. On Royal Alloy GP, JPS and TG models, it serves as the metal support for the rubber footboard strip fitted above it. The silver-coloured finish matches the original footboard design and allows a damaged or missing metal strip to be replaced individually.
This construction uses several coordinated components, each serving a different purpose. The metal strip provides a dimensionally stable support structure, while the separately fitted rubber footboard strip forms the actual surface on which the foot rests. An additional rubber underlay between the metal strip and the footboard protects the painted bodywork from direct contact with the metal.
The rubber footboard strip and the protective rubber underlay are separate components and are not included in the scope of delivery.
The footboard trim strip consists of two narrow, parallel metal profiles connected by several crossbars. Elongated openings remain between the profiles. This design creates a continuous support structure for the rubber footboard strip while accommodating the mounting points on the footboard.
A particularly noticeable feature is the curved section at one end of the strip, which rises upwards in an arc. This contour is designed to match the corresponding area of the right footboard. The remaining section is largely straight and ends in a flat end piece.
Both rounded footboard trim end pieces are permanently integrated into the metal strip. Each features a mounting hole and provides a neat finish to the construction. Additional mounting points are also located on the underside and are clearly visible in the product images.
The footboard trim strips for the left and right sides of the vehicle differ in shape and mounting orientation. The correct version must therefore be used for installation on the right side. The position on the footboard must also be considered, as different metal strips are used for the various sections.
When replacing the strip, the existing rubber footboard strip should first be removed. The metal strip can then be detached, allowing the rubber underlay beneath it to be inspected. If the underlay is damaged, hardened or no longer complete, it should also be replaced to prevent the new metal strip from resting directly against the painted surface.
The matching upper rubber footboard strip for this position is available under Royal Alloy original part number 0312020020-10-001. It must be ordered separately if required.
Before fitting the new strip, the mounting points on the footboard should be checked for damage and dirt. The protective underlay is positioned between the bodywork and the metal strip. The metal strip can then be secured and the rubber footboard strip installed.
The genuine Royal Alloy footboard trim strip 0312020017-10-001 allows the front right footboard trim to be restored to its original condition. Its vehicle-specific shape, integrated end pieces and silver-coloured surface ensure that the replacement part fits into the existing footboard construction without requiring the other footboard trim strips to be replaced.
