DR 70cc tuning kit for Minarelli AC horizontal

Our SCK cylinder base kits offer an uncomplicated and quick start to give your vehicle a boost. Do you already have the skills, but lack the experience to know which components harmonize well with each other? This is where our ready-made kits come in, providing the basis for a powerful, durable engine suitable for everyday use. In order to achieve good acceleration and good pulling power, you need more torque, which also increases performance.

Why pure variator upgrades are not enough with standard power

All attempts to get more acceleration out of an engine with little power, for example with a different clutch or variator, are usually unsuccessful, as they only try to transfer the available power perfectly to the road. If there is little power available, even the best sports variator can do little to improve acceleration

, which is why our basic kits start directly where the power is generated, in the heart of the engine. Here, not only is the torque greatly improved with the help of a larger displacement, but the inner cylinder design of the scavenging channels and their larger dimensions also considerably improve performance across the entire rev range.

The cylinder we have selected, the DR 70, which has proven itself over decades, is the proverbial jack of all trades. The DR combines a very good starting torque with a wide rev range under load. This enables it to master the normally difficult balancing act of good acceleration and high top speed and also responds very well to further tuning measures such as a sports exhaust.

Extended intake tract for thermally stable setup

The kit contains the basic parts to enable the engine to develop its full power.
The open intake manifold and larger carburettor allow the intake tract to breathe freely, and the cylinder responds with greatly improved performance and better durability thanks to increased internal cooling.

The kits can be easily combined with the standard exhaust, are then absolutely inconspicuous and already considerably more powerful than with a standard cylinder. An inconspicuous sports exhaust in series design, such as those offered by Tecnigas or LeoVince, rounds off the overall package perfectly. Even better performance in combination with a quiet exhaust with approval make a 50cc scooter a very fast vehicle that does not draw attention to itself in everyday life through noise and revs.

Including jet set for safe carburettor tuning

In order to be able to adapt the carburettor individually to the different existing conditions, such as a sports exhaust, each kit includes a jet set for the respective carburettor

. If a main jet that is too small is used, the engine may become lean within a very short time and destroy the cylinder. The basic rule for a durable and well-tuned engine is very easy to realize. It always starts with choosing a main jet that is so large that it causes the engine to stutter under load. Starting from this, you slowly work your way down, i.e. starting with a jet size 88, for example, you select a smaller and smaller jet size (86, 84, 82 etc.) (in the respective jet gradation) until the scooter no longer stutters under full load. This gives you a very good starting point for further fine-tuning via the carburetor needle, secondary jet, etc.
A DR 70 with a 17.5 mm carburettor and a corresponding exhaust already mobilizes around 9 hp at the rear wheel, which means that it could easily pull a longer gearbox if a further increase in top speed is desired.

All in all, the foundation for a solid engine tuning that remains suitable for everyday use and low in fuel consumption despite the increased power.
