The adjustable tap wrenches from BGS Technic are designed for manually holding and operating taps. The adjustable holder allows the tool to be adapted to the square shank of the tap being used. The products are available in different versions for different holder sizes.
Unlike tool holders with a ratchet mechanism, the turning movement is applied directly via the two opposing handles. This allows the tap to be guided evenly and the torque required for manual thread cutting to be transferred in a controlled manner.
The central holder is used to securely clamp the tap. Thanks to its adjustable design, the holder can be adapted to different square shank sizes within its respective working range. Appropriately sized versions of the tap wrench are available for different taps.
The holder is made of die-cast zinc. The clamping surfaces inside the holder secure the square shank of the tap during manual operation.
The steel handles positioned on both sides provide even force transmission to the clamped tap. Their symmetrical arrangement allows the tool to be operated with both hands, enabling controlled rotational movement during thread cutting.
The steel handles can be unscrewed. Their outer ends feature knurled sections that provide a secure gripping surface when holding and turning the tool.
The tap wrench is used for manually cutting internal threads. In combination with suitable taps, it can also be used to rework existing internal threads. The tap should be positioned straight in relation to the bore axis and guided in a controlled manner throughout the cutting process.
When cutting threads, the use of a cutting lubricant suitable for the material and application is recommended. Controlled periodic reversing can assist with chip breaking and chip removal.
Only use taps that are suitable for the respective holder of the tap wrench. Before starting work, check that the tap is correctly and securely seated. Wear suitable protective gloves and safety glasses during machining.
