Reinforced FRT EVO3 Clutch Cover for Vespa Smallframe – with rack-and-pinion mechanism, 10-mm release shaft, dual bearings, and clutch arm with three tension mounting points.
The FRT EVO3 clutch cover is a thoroughly reinforced solution for high-performance Vespa small-frame clutches. The housing is made of heat-treated G-AlSi7 aluminum, features a precision rack-and-pinion mechanism, and, with a clutch chamber diameter of 118 mm, offers plenty of space for modern aftermarket clutches.
The case-hardened and ground release shaft (Ø10 mm) is mounted on dual bearings. In addition, the clutch arm features three attachment points for the clutch cable. This allows the ratio between the required hand force and the available actuation travel to be individually adjusted to suit the clutch and the rider.

The clutch arm on this EVO3 model features three different attachment points for the clutch cable. This allows the mechanical ratio of the clutch actuation to be adjusted to the clutch being used and the desired lever feel.
This adjustment option is particularly practical for high-performance clutches with high spring force: The operation can be made more comfortable or more direct without having to change the entire release mechanism.
The EVO3 design utilizes a rack-and-pinion mechanism. This ensures that the movement of the clutch arm is precisely transmitted to the release system.
Especially for clutches with high spring force, guidance that is as play-free and precise as possible is crucial. The rack-and-pinion mechanism reduces unnecessary tilting movements and ensures direct, reproducible operation.
The interior space for the clutch basket measures Ø118 mm. According to FRT, this makes the cover compatible with standard small-frame clutches on the market, specifically including models from Fabbri, Falc, EGIG, VMC, and Crimaz.
The area for the primary sprocket has a diameter of 26 mm.
The release shaft has a diameter of 10 mm and a usable length of 107 mm. It is case-hardened and then ground.
This results in wear-resistant and precise bearing surfaces. The double-bearing configuration further stabilizes the shaft and reduces the tendency to tilt under high loads.
The FRT EVO3 is primarily designed for the Vespa PK XL2, but can also be used on other small-frame models:
According to FRT, when used with the brake anchor plate or brake base plate from the Vespa Special or ET3, the clutch cover must be machined. The relevant area must be ground down to ensure sufficient clearance.
The housing is made of G-AlSi7 aluminum and heat-treated. The surface is then blasted with glass microbeads, resulting in a technically clean and uniform surface.
The version offered here is black.
According to the manufacturer, the FRT EVO3 clutch cover is delivered fully assembled. The release shaft, bearings, bushing, seals, and pressure plate are thus already assembled as a coordinated system.
