clutch KINGWELLE 4S-R DragBikeClutch for standard length countershaft

4-disc racing clutch for powerful Vespa smallframe engines with standard countershaft length.

The KINGWELLE 4S-R DragBikeClutch is a genuine racing clutch for Vespa smallframe engines, developed for drag racing and sprint use. This version is designed for standard-length auxiliary shafts and is aimed at engines where a conventional sports clutch no longer works reliably enough. The 4S-R is designed for powerful setups in the range of approx. 40-45 hp and approx. 30-35 Nm - depending on lining material, spring assembly, oil, housing and complete engine tuning.

What makes the KINGWELLE 4S-R so special

Genuine racing clutch: controlled clutch engagement even at high engine speeds
4-disc design: designed for very powerful smallframe engines
for standard auxiliary shaft: suitable version for engines without extended auxiliary shaft
4S-R design: upper cover plate secured via ring, no bolted cover plate
high-quality base materials: main components with very low wear in racing operation
Repkit included: clutch basket with reinforced cover plate for the shock absorber springs

Racing clutch from acceleration racing

The KINGWELLE clutch was developed from a clear problem in drag racing: very high engine power must be transmitted in a controllable manner at the start, even if the clutch is hot after several runs. The clutch was therefore developed using high-quality materials and with a focus on reproducible function. The 4-disc version is the right choice for powerful smallframe engines where high load capacity and good clutch engagement must be combined.

4S-R: Ring instead of screws

The 4S-R version is designed for tough everyday racing conditions. The R stands for the ring that secures the upper cover plate. This eliminates the need for screws at this point. This reduces the risk of screws coming loose or getting lost, especially when working on an open engine or during racing. At the same time, the clutch remains designed for high spring forces and powerful engines.

For auxiliary shaft with standard length

This version is designed for smallframe engines with a standard length auxiliary shaft. For engines with an extended auxiliary shaft, e.g. DRT, Faio or comparable racing auxiliary shafts, the corresponding 4S-R version for long auxiliary shafts is required.

Load capacity and application range

KINGWELLE recommends the 4S-R for engines up to approx. 40-45 hp and approx. 30-35 Nm. It is therefore positioned well above classic sports clutches and is suitable for ambitious road engines, sprint setups and racing engines where controlled engagement and high load capacity are crucial.

Note on the spacer kit

Depending on the housing, secondary shaft length and installation situation, a 1 mm spacer kit may be required. This applies to the cover, brake drum, main shaft bearing and brake anchor plate. The free movement of the clutch and complete disengagement must be checked carefully before final assembly.

Scope of delivery and relevant components

Kit contents

Clutch basket: including reinforced cover plate for the springs of the shock absorber
Repkit: 4x M5x14 mm screws, grade 10.9, Torx TX25 for the primary repair area
Clutch spider / inner basket: suitable for the KINGWELLE 4S-R version
Release: needle bearing press-on or release bearing
Release tool: normal release tool for the auxiliary shaft in the kit scope according to the manufacturer's specifications
Spacer kit: 1 mm spacer kit required depending on the installation situation or included depending on delivery status

Adjust pads and springs

The KINGWELLE clutch can be adjusted with different linings and spring strengths depending on the engine power and intended use. Cork linings offer good grip and are attractively priced. Carbon linings are more heat-resistant, but usually require a little more spring tension.

Cork: good grip and suitable for many strong setups
Carbon: more heat-resistant, interesting for racing, often requires more spring pressure
Mixed configuration: e.g. two lower pads carbon and two upper pads cork possible
Springs: PK XL2 spring type, arrange spring strengths symmetrically and do not mix manufacturers

Recommendations for mounting and tuning

KINGWELLE practical recommendations

Oil filling quantity standard housing: approx. 400 ml
Oil filling quantity Quattrini housing: up to approx. 600 ml
Oil recommendation: Motul 7100 10W40
Clutch cover: PK XL2 cover or comparable quality recommended
Pressure point: Pressure mushroom must press centrally on the release bearing
No permanent pressure: Pressure mushroom must not be in permanent contact with the bearing when the cover is fitted
Lever geometry: Position cover lever approx. 5-10 mm in front of 90° to the clutch cable when not actuated
Running in the linings: new clutch linings require a running-in phase until they are fully supported

Note on tuning and racing parts

This product is a tuning and racing part for high-performance engines. Installation and operation significantly affect the durability and load of the entire engine. Damage to the engine, vehicle or third parties is possible in the event of improper installation. Installation, tuning and operation are the responsibility of the user and should only be carried out with the appropriate expertise.

It combines high load capacity with controllable clutch engagement and is therefore a consistent solution for sprint, drag and racetrack engines with a normal secondary shaft length.

FAQ about the KINGWELLE 4S-R DragBikeClutch standard secondary shaft

This version is intended for standard-length auxiliary shafts. For DRT, Faio and other extended driveshafts, the version for long driveshafts is required.
KINGWELLE recommends the 4S-R for approx. 40-45 HP and approx. 30-35 Nm. The actual load capacity depends on the complete setup.
We recommend a PK XL2 clutch cover or a comparable design in which the pressure mushroom presses centrally on the release bearing.
