CONNECTING ROD BGM PRO 120MM FOR VESPA PX125/200

Forged bgm PRO connecting rod with 120mm length and precise CNC finishing. The extended connecting rod length improves the connecting rod ratio, reduces vibrations across the entire speed range and reduces the tilting moment of the piston at the reversal points. Depending on the cylinder concept, a suitable spacer is required for the cylinder base or head. The connecting rod is designed for crankshafts with Ø20mm journals and is suitable for performance-enhanced PX125/200 engines.

Why 120mm connecting rod length?

With 120mm, the distance between the crankshaft journal and the connecting rod eye increases. This reduces the inclination angle of the connecting rod, the piston runs more stably in the raceway and the bearings are mechanically relieved. The result is smoother engine running with high speed stability.

Especially in touring and sports setups with more displacement or higher torque, the longer connecting rod provides reserves in the moving parts. The engine is more refined without losing any of its spontaneity.

Technical data

Axle center length: 120mm

Bore of crankpin: Ø26mm (crankpin Ø20mm)

Bore of connecting rod eye: Ø20mm (piston pin Ø16mm, can also be used for piston pin Ø15mm with special bearing 7672564)

Lower connecting rod width: 14mm (outer diameter of lower connecting rod: Ø34mm)

Connecting rod top width: 14mm (connecting rod top outside diameter: Ø29mm)

Material thickness of connecting rod blade: 6mm

Clevis pin bore: slotted

Connecting rod eye top: with 2 lubrication holes

Installation and application

When changing from standard connecting rods to 120mm connecting rod length, the crushing edge and the timing must be readjusted. In practice, this is usually done using spacers on the cylinder base or spacer rings on the cylinder head, depending on the cylinder used and the desired performance characteristics.

With the exception of the connecting rod length and the lower crankpin, the bgm PRO connecting rod corresponds to the standard dimensions of a PX200 connecting rod. This makes it easier to combine with established setups and components.

FAQ about the bgm PRO 120mm connecting rod

Does the connecting rod fit in every PX125/200 crankshaft?
The connecting rod is designed for crankshafts with Ø20mm journals. For crankshafts with a different crankpin diameter, it is necessary to modify the shaft or use a suitable tuning shaft.

Do I always have to use a spacer with a 120mm connecting rod length?
As a rule, yes. The longer overall length changes the effective cylinder height. Whether the compensation takes place via a spacer at the cylinder base or via the head depends on the cylinder layout and the desired timing.

Can I continue to use pistons with Ø15mm piston pins?
Yes. With the special bearing 7672564, pistons with Ø15mm piston pins can also be used, although the connecting rod is designed for Ø16mm piston pins as standard.

For which engine setups is the connecting rod particularly interesting?
For stable touring and sports engines where smooth engine running, reduced vibrations and reserves at high engine speeds are paramount - from powerful everyday engines to long-distance touring setups.
