BGM PRO Supertorque converter for Vespa GTS/GTV 200-300

The BGM Supertorque converter optimizes the acceleration of the vehicle. It keeps the engine immediately at the speed of the highest torque, which means that the full tractive force is always available at the rear wheel. The BGM Supertorque completely replaces the factory-fitted torque converter and offers two different settings for individual adjustment to your own engine. The matching angles of the pulley halves also ensure perfect suitability for everyday use, which protects the V-belt.

FUNCTIONING
ORIGINAL CONVERTER
The original converter is optimized for maximum vehicle control. To this end, it reduces the maximum possible acceleration, even at full throttle, to approx. 30 km/h by conservatively designing the shifting behavior of the rear converter. This offers novice drivers increased safety so that they can stabilize the vehicle from a slow speed (handlebars straight, correct seating position, etc.). For ambitious drivers and tuners, this means that any changes to the drive (variator, counter-pressure spring) and/or the performance-determining engine components themselves (cylinder, camshaft, head, etc.) cannot take full effect unless the torque converter is also changed.

FUNCTION BGM SUPERTORQUE
CONVERTER
The BGM Supertorque converter engages directly at the speed of the highest torque and maintains this without compromise in order to deliver the full engine power directly to the rear wheel. This allows the scooter to accelerate much better from a standstill and, with performance-optimized engines, also lift the front wheel. Of course, the Supertorque torque converter can also be used to start off normally if desired. A major advantage of the BGM Supertorque torque converter is its linear shifting behavior. This makes it much easier to tune the drive, especially on more powerful engines.

TUNING

In order to adapt the torque converter perfectly to the engine and your own requirements, it has two differently shaped milled grooves for the so-called sliding blocks. The grooves have different flank angles. Basically, the steeper the angle of the grooves, the faster the torque converter halves can close and the faster the scooter can accelerate. Please note that the engine should have a sufficiently high base power for the strong adjustment. Standard engines should use the flatter and therefore somewhat tamer flank angle.

Sufficient time should be allowed for testing and tuning. The possible combinations for tuning the variator and torque converter are enormous. A harmonious combination of weights, counter-pressure spring and torque converter flank angle results in significantly improved acceleration behavior. Ideal for use in combination with the BGM PRO variator.

TIP
: The subjective perception of acceleration can be deceptive quite quickly (partly due to the rpm heard). The ideal way to test this is to always ride the same route and use an accelerometer (e.g. SIGMA MC1812, see accessories).

Please grease the converter before installation (area of the sliding blocks and guide slots)
