Cylinder ITALKAST GR-V 135 ccm cast iron, direct intake, 8-way reed valve for Vespa PV125 and ET3

Sporty smallframe cylinder kit with direct intake on the cylinder, 8-valve reed valve and 30 mm intake manifold.

The ITALKAST GR-V 135 is a classically designed but technically clearly sporty smallframe kit for riders who want to ride a consistent reed valve concept on a PV or ET3 basis. Instead of the standard intake via the engine housing, the cylinder works with a direct intake on the cylinder. This is precisely what gives this kit its character: more independence from the original intake layout, more cross-section and a design that is clearly geared towards a sporty smallframe engine.

ITALKAST 135 cc Ø58 mm Cast iron Direct intake 8-fold diaphragm

What makes this kit special

Direct intake on the cylinder: the fresh gas is not fed via the classic engine case intake, but directly via the cylinder
8-flap diaphragm: large-dimensioned diaphragm block with carbon plates for sporty setups
Cast iron cylinder: classic material with a robust base and good suitability for everyday use
Complete intake side included: aluminum intake manifold, diaphragm block, rubber sleeve and sealing flange for the engine housing are already provided

Direct intake instead of housing intake

The major technical difference to classic smallframe cylinders is the direct intake. The mixture is not controlled via the original intake in the engine housing, but is fed directly to the cylinder. As a result, the original housing intake system is relieved or shut down and the setup can be set up much more freely via the reed valve, carburetor and exhaust.

8-fold diaphragm with carbon plates

The kit includes a double 8-petal diaphragm block made of aluminium with a vulcanized structure and carbon diaphragm plates. In combination with the 30 mm aluminum intake manifold, this results in an intake side that is clearly intended for sporty smallframe concepts.

Diaphragm: 8 petals, double roof shape
Material: Aluminum body with carbon plates
Intake manifold: Aluminum, Ø30 mm
Scope of delivery: including rubber sleeve and sealing flange for the housing inlet

Timing and character

With 123° overflow timing and 184° exhaust timing, the GR-V is clearly positioned for sporty performance. The layout indicates a cylinder that is not intended as an inconspicuous touring cylinder, but rather a setup that makes sensible use of engine speed, filling and cross-section. Thanks to the direct intake on the cylinder, the kit is particularly well suited to engines that are deliberately designed as a reed valve setup.

Technical structure

Cylinder: gray cast iron, bore 58 mm
Stroke: 51 mm
Displacement: 132.37 cc
Piston: Aluminum piston with two rings
Head: Cast aluminum head
Crushing edge: 1.1 mm ± 0.1 mm

Important note on the engine concept

This kit is not a classic plug-and-play replacement cylinder for close-to-production engines, but a deliberately sporty direct-inlet reed valve concept. If you want to exploit the potential of the GR-V, you should select and tune the complete system consisting of carburetor, crankshaft, exhaust and ignition to match.

Conclusion

The ITALKAST GR-V 135 is a clearly sporty smallframe kit for all those who want to consciously opt for a direct-inlet reed valve concept. The cast iron cylinder, 8-fold carbon diaphragm and 30 mm intake together provide a very interesting basis for powerful and high-revving PV and ET3 engines.
