DEXTER RACING Classic Box 4.0 – the upgraded small-frame exhaust system with a new, deep-drawn manifold.
Developed in collaboration with WhiteOneRacing (W1R), this exhaust system combines powerful low-end torque with high-revving performance and a discreet, stock-like appearance. In version 4.0, a newly designed, deep-drawn manifold ensures more efficient exhaust flow and further-optimized power delivery.
More low-end torque, more responsiveness, and further-improved exhaust flow: With the Classic Box 4.0, Dexter Racing continues to refine its small-frame exhaust system, developed in collaboration with WhiteOneRacing (W1R). The most important update is the new, deep-drawn manifold. Its more aerodynamic shape improves exhaust gas flow and creates the conditions for more efficient power delivery.
The proven design remains unchanged: a compact, partially resonant exhaust system with the look of the classic Vespa box, which delivers solid torque even at low RPMs, pulls strongly in the mid-range, and doesn’t cut out prematurely even at higher RPMs.
This makes the Classic Box 4.0 ideal for riders looking for a high-performance exhaust for their small-frame engine without having to rely on a narrow, high-revving resonance band.
The key innovation compared to the previous Version 3.0 is the newly developed, deep-drawn manifold. Its optimized shape allows the exhaust flow to be guided more efficiently. The goal of this redesign is to further improve the performance of the existing exhaust system without sacrificing its broad-band character.
In combination with the compact diffuser geometry and the tuned expansion chamber, the result is an exhaust system that delivers both torque and responsive acceleration.
The Dexter Racing Classic Box was developed to combine the advantages of a high-torque banana exhaust with the high-revving characteristics of a performance-oriented exhaust system.
Compared to a classic Proma banana exhaust, this design is engineered to deliver similarly strong low-end torque while offering greater high-rpm reserve and the potential for higher peak power. The power delivery remains highly usable and does not necessarily require a particularly short fourth gear.
This is particularly advantageous on classic small-frame engines: Instead of a pronounced power peak with a narrow usable RPM range, a broad torque band is available. This makes shifting smoother and ensures harmonious acceleration.
Noise levels were also taken into account during the design process. According to the manufacturer, the Classic Box operates more quietly than a Proma and visually closely resembles the classic Vespa exhaust.
The Classic Box 4.0 with a Ø28-mm manifold offered here is designed specifically for small-frame engines with low to medium airflow. This includes classic short-stroke tuning engines as well as numerous long-stroke setups up to 130 cm³.
Typical applications include:
The Ø28-mm version is suitable for cylinders with an exhaust port or exhaust connection of up to 28 mm in diameter. For larger displacement engines or particularly high-performance engine configurations, an exhaust variant with a larger manifold cross-section may be more appropriate.
Despite the redesigned manifold construction, the Classic Box 4.0 remains compact and tailored to the space constraints of the classic Vespa Smallframe.
According to the manufacturer, the system can be installed on the Vespa 50 Special as well as the V50 N, L, and R models with 43 or 51 mm stroke without any modifications to the vehicle. Installation on a Vespa 125 Primavera frame with a side luggage compartment is also supported.
The system is listed for the following classic small-frame models:
Tires in sizes 3.00-10 and 90/90-10 can be used. If different rims, tires, or suspension components are used, check for free movement throughout the entire suspension travel.
The Dexter Racing Classic Box 4.0 is an interesting alternative to classic banana exhaust systems when, in addition to strong acceleration, you need more responsiveness and power at higher RPMs.
The new deep-drawn manifold is the key enhancement in version 4.0. Combined with the proven resonance design, this results in a versatile exhaust system for sporty small-frame engines where a broad, easily manageable power band is more important than a pronounced power peak.
Note: This system is designed as a performance exhaust. Road approval is not specified in the manufacturer’s documentation provided. Legal compliance for use on public roads must be verified before installation.
