FAQ about the bgm PRO ignition coil (blue)

It fits many classic Vespa smallframe and largeframe models as well as Piaggio Ape, mopeds and mopeds, provided a contact-controlled ignition system is installed. The model overview can be opened in groups, including type codes and notes on the retaining plate.
A retaining plate is used ex works on some models: Piaggio 156338 (Scooter Center 1156338). On Vespa Smallframe from 1975 it is generally no longer necessary because the engine housing has been chamfered at the fan tunnel. On certain Smallframe and some Largeframe models (especially 1965-1978) the plate is required or recommended, depending on the model.
Yes. On Largeframe models that use a coil with a riveted-on additional plate ex works, the bgm PRO coil will fit if the retaining plate 156338 (Scooter Center 1156338) is also fitted. Alternatively, the authentic ignition coil with riveted-on plate can be ordered: 7676139.
In addition to the ignition coil itself, a 1 meter long bgm PRO silicone ignition cable, a spark plug connector with 1 Ohm resistance and a rubber cap as splash protection for the excitation current cable are included.
The 1 Ohm resistor is tailored to the requirements of classic contact ignition systems. It reduces high-frequency interference, relieves the ignition components and supports clean spark formation without unnecessarily weakening the ignition spark.
The bgm PRO silicone ignition cable is heat-resistant, very flexible and permanently stress-resistant. It ensures reliable high-voltage transmission, even with vibration, tight bending radii and adverse operating conditions.
Yes, it is a plug-and-play component. The ignition coil fits the original mounting points, the ignition cable is inserted into the coil and plug as usual, the rubber cap is simply passed over the connection of the excitation current cable. If your model requires an additional retaining plate, this is screwed on during installation.
