This version of the YGROS ROAD by VAPE is designed as a 12V DC system: The entire current from the alternator is fed into a battery via a DC regulator - and from there the entire on-board electrical system is supplied with direct current. The conversion is somewhat more complex than a pure AC system, but provides noticeably more comfort and reserves for modern consumers.
Important: GS160 and GS/4 models with original 6V battery ignition can also be converted to this system - but always as a consistent change to a modern 12V DC electrical system. There is no "compatibility" with the original 6V DC concept.
A DC on-board electrical system is technically more consistent, but also somewhat more complex: the controller charges the battery and all consumers are supplied via the battery. This means that the wiring has to be set up appropriately from the ground up.
In short: more work when setting up - but an on-board electrical system that feels "modern".
There is an important design difference between the GS160 and GS/4: 1st series with a small cone (Ø19 mm) and 2nd series with a larger cone (Ø21 mm). The 21 mm cone corresponds to the level of the SS180 and is considered the more stable base.
Note: For mixed components (engine/polewheel/cone), be sure to check the fit and flash the ignition timing after assembly.
Important: The aim is not "battery as original", but a modern 12V DC electrical system with central regulator and battery buffer.
Note: For GS160/GS/4, please also check the cone type (Ø19/Ø21). The DC conversion is always carried out with a new wiring harness and battery logic.
The YGROS ROAD by VAPE - DC version is the comfort-oriented solution for GS160 and SS180: The complete Lima current is charged into a battery via a DC regulator and from there the on-board electrical system is supplied as 12V direct current. The conversion is more complex than AC, but offers clear advantages in terms of light, comfort and DC consumers. A new wiring harness is mandatory in any case - even for vehicles that originally already had a 6V battery ignition.
