With this conversion kit, the braking performance of an 8 inch Vespa can be significantly improved. Originally they use, with a few exceptions, a so-called closed rim and a brake drum and hub separated from each other (similar to the drum brakes on the rear car). These brake drums are made of steel plate and tend to overheat very quickly, which can cause the brake line to go to zero.

Our conversion kit uses a modern drum type similar to the one still used in the Vespa PX today. Through the brake lining friction surface embedded in the solid aluminium, the heat generated can be transferred directly to the brake drum which is located in the cooling wind. The brake drum thus functions as a regular heat sink. A clear advantage compared to the small dimensioned sheet metal version which hardly gets any cool air behind a closed rim.

The kit is also an ideal addition to our rear axle conversion kit. Thus not only the optics is adapted, but also the technology is with few handles on a substantially more modern conditions. Not uninteresting for all those who want to stay true to the 8 inch tires but still want to drive a little faster.
