10 km/h faster without changing anything on the engine? With the modified tone wheel from Kübler Racing, this is possible without any problems. The tone wheel is a slotted steel disk on the rear wheel. It is used to determine the wheel speed for the ASR/ABS control.
Plus 10 km/h top speed
No intervention in the engine necessary
Easy to retrofit
Not visible from the outside
No increased wear
SPEED LIMITER
Although the Vespa GTS HPE has more power at the rear wheel than its predecessors, the top speed unfortunately does not benefit from this due to an early limiter. One of the reasons for this is that the speedometer display is a little too fast. At a real 120 km/h, the speedometer already shows 130 km/h. From 130 km/h, however, the on-board electronic system consistently reduces the speed.
FINAL SPEED
This is precisely where the new tone wheel from Kübler Racing comes in. What sounds like magic at first is actually simple physics. The new tone wheel has a modified geometry, which means that the exact, real speed is now transmitted to the control electronics. This means that the 130 km/h displayed are actually 130 km/h on the road. The limiter therefore also kicks in a full 10 km/h later, although the speedometer shows the same speed as before the conversion (130 km/h).
Ideally, the higher top speed can be confirmed by a comparison using a GPS speed measurement (e.g. via cell phone) before and after the conversion. The performance diagram below clearly shows the difference in how many km/h the limiter applies before and after the conversion.
ASSEMBLY
The exhaust and the swing arm on the right-hand side of the vehicle (in the direction of travel) are removed for the conversion. After simply replacing the tone wheel (bolted to the rear wheel rim using 5 pcs. M6x20 hexagon socket screws), only the ASR system is recalibrated, that's all. The recalibration can easily be done by yourself with the help of our instructions under 'Downloads'.
