KINGWELLE Steel Disc for the DragBikeClutch
The steel discs of the KINGWELLE DragBikeClutch are designed for extreme thermal and mechanical stresses. They are precision CNC-milled and turned, then heat-treated, and remain dimensionally stable up to a temperature of 550 °C.
In drag racing in particular, the clutch is engaged with controlled slippage for an extended period during the start. When engine power of around 80 PS at approximately 8,000 rpm acts on the clutch assembly, temperatures are generated at which conventional, untreated steel discs can anneal or become permanently warped.
The heat-treated KINGWELLE discs remain flat and dimensionally stable even under this load. They are thus an essential component of the DragBikeClutch’s exceptional durability and enable the effective use of the heat-resistant carbon clutch linings.

A blue tint does not necessarily indicate wear
At very high temperatures, the surface of the steel disc may turn blue. With an untreated disc, this may indicate an adverse change in the material.
With the heat-treated KINGWELLE disc, however, a blue discoloration alone is not a reason for replacement. As long as the disc is mechanically undamaged, flat, and within the specified dimensions, it can continue to be used.

Why is the disc sold individually?
Under normal operating conditions, these steel discs generally do not need to be replaced due to their high wear and temperature resistance. However, individual replacement discs are available in case a disc is lost or mechanically damaged during installation.

Not necessarily. Due to the heat treatment, the disc can still be used even after it has turned blue, provided it remains flat, dimensionally stable, and mechanically undamaged.
Very high temperatures are generated during grinding engagement. Conventional, untreated steel discs can anneal or warp under these conditions. The heat-treated KINGWELLE discs remain stable even under this stress.
As a rule, replacement due to wear is not necessary. The replacement disc is offered in case a disc is lost or has been mechanically damaged.
