Wideframe shaft seals for the crankshaft are available in two different designs:
The version for wideframe with 0,5mm is only available in no-name quality. The oil seals fit and there are no problems with strained bearings.
PROBLEM WIDEFRAME MOTORS
The much higher quality BGM Pro and Corteco oil seals are (for safety reasons) only available with 0.8mm thick sheet metal jacket. If these are installed in a wide-frame engine, the crankshaft bearings become distorted, which leads to bearing damage.
SOLUTIONS WIDEFRAME ENGINES
a) The circumferential bead in the oil seal is flattened, reducing the height of the oil seal plate by approx. 0.3mm. The bearings then run freely.
b) The BGM Pro bearing set with special ball bearings from FAG with 9 balls. Here the bearing shoulders were turned to size to ensure a stress-free installation of the crankshaft bearing. The set includes the matching high-quality ethanol-resistant BGM Pro FKM oil seals.
