Lambretta Special and SX – History, Models, and Documentation
Author: Vittorio Tessera
Format: 26 × 25 cm – 120 pages – Hundreds of black-and-white and color photos – Softcover with flaps – Text: Italian/English
An absolutely brilliant monograph on the Lambretta Special and SX series. Once again, Dottore Lambretta has outdone himself, delving deep into the archives and putting everything about the series down on paper.
The table of contents is organized as follows:
The book explores the history and development of the Special and SX models and focuses in particular on several prototypes that never went into production—including the two truly innovative and legendary Lambretta twin-cylinder prototypes. It also covers the design study of a potential SX successor and provides many technical details and developments.
Special attention is given to the 200 SX, which, with its above-average performance, became the undisputed queen of the European scooter scene: fast, elegant, and embodying the SX appeal. It was particularly popular in the United Kingdom. That’s why the book also includes a detailed look at the British scooter scene and the success of the SX series in that country, including the various dealer-special models based on the SX models.
Other chapters cover the Lambrate-based company’s communication strategy for marketing the new product, as well as curious projects such as the hovercraft equipped with two Lambretta 200 SX engines.
A must-have!
