Dell'Orto SHB Carburettors for Vespa 50 cc Models

The SHB series is the classic among scooter carburettors. On nearly every small frame this successful carburettor type was used.

The carburettor works without needle and has only one main jet (5mm thread) and a choke jet accessible from the outside. On the Vespa Smallframe circuit models with 50cc the following variants were used:

All 50-85cc engines should use at least the 16/16mm carb.
Engines equipped with a SHB16/10 carburetor require the intake manifold of the SHB16/16 models for conversion. The 16mm cross-section is sufficient for cylinders up to and including 85cc. From 100cc on you should convert to a 19mm carburettor.

There are SHB carburettors for V50, 50N and PK models.
V50/50N use stud bolts for the sheet metal air filter
PK models have a plastic filter which is clamped

NOTE: This carburettor type is normally sealed with a felt ring in the cast protective cap. However, Dell'Orto has switched production of this carburettor to sealing with an O-ring. Therefore the carburettor is further turned out at the connection to the intake manifold. Please make sure that the carburettor is pushed far enough onto the connection. Possibly the cast protective cap must be modified at the slots of the guide noses somewhat, so that it can slip further on the connecting piece.
