The black rubber underlay for the front inner floorboard trim strips is a genuine Royal Alloy spare part for the GP, JPS and TG model ranges. It is fitted as a lower intermediate layer within the multi-piece floorboard trim assembly. The same component is used on both the left and right sides of the vehicle and can be replaced individually if worn or damaged.
The inner position of the floorboard trim requires a correspondingly shaped underlay. This version therefore differs from the rubber strips used in the outer sections of the floorboard. The installation position and the corresponding original part number are essential for selecting the correct replacement part.
The underlay has an elongated, almost straight shape with rounded ends. Two rectangular openings and five smaller, approximately round or oval holes are distributed along the profile. The different opening shapes are adapted to the arrangement of the associated components.
A stepped contour is visible near one end. Together with the openings, it provides guidance for the intended orientation within the floorboard trim assembly. The flat design allows the component to be used as an intermediate layer underneath the corresponding trim strip.
The black rubber material separates adjacent components and forms a flexible supporting layer. This can cushion direct contact and minor relative movements between neighbouring parts. The underlay itself is not a visible decorative element but forms part of the underlying assembly.
In the Royal Alloy spare parts catalogue, original part number 0312020023-10-001 is listed as the lower rubber strip for the left and right inner positions. The outer floorboard trim strips, however, use the version with original part number 0312020022-10-001. Despite their similar basic shapes, these two components should not be confused.
Before installation, it is advisable to inspect the existing floorboard trim strip and the underlying contact surface for dirt, damage or residue from the old underlay. The new rubber underlay is aligned according to its contour and the existing hole pattern.
During installation, ensure that the underlay rests evenly against the surface. The openings must align with the intended positions of the associated components. Installation with the underlay twisted or incorrectly positioned should be avoided.
The genuine rubber underlay allows the inner floorboard trim assembly to be repaired without replacing unnecessary components. Its matching shape and clear identification for the inner installation position make it easier to replace a damaged or missing part.
