The steering tube is manufactured by the former OEM Piaggio manufacturer Prediere & Abbate. The fork is ready to install with already pressed aluminum swingarm including Ø20mm wheel axle. The (so called Lusso fork) steering tube used from 1984 on can be equipped with a drum brake (series 1984-1997) or also a disc brake (1998-2016). Of course, the aftermarket disc brakes for the Ø20mm axle type will also fit.
For the installation of the steering tube, we recommend the use of a new steering head bearing set. You will find the corresponding special tool for de/installation under accessories.
UPGRADE YEARS 1977-1982
The Lusso fork has a thicker tube than the fork of the Vespa PX old (1977-1982). The fork is therefore more stable and ideal especially when converting to disc brakes.
Therefore, the forks of the Lussomodelle are also often used to upgrade the older PX models. However, the fork of the models from 1984 (as shown here) already has a different steering lock type. The fork would therefore have to be heavily modified for use in an old PX (weld the steering lock milling and mill a new slot).
Easier is the use of the scene internally 'hermaphrodite fork' called steering tube type of the years 1982-1984. These have also already the thick steering tube and a 20mm axle, but still have the old steering lock type (slot). This type of fork can simply be installed like a series fork but already be combined with a modern Ø20mm brake.
