Front disc brake set -DEXTER RACING Classic- for Vespa Largeframe VBA/VBB/VNB & Faro Basso (lamp below)

Suitable for classic Vespa models with VBA/VBB/VNB fork type as well as Wideframe/Faro Basso forks ("lamp down") - including selected licensed components (ACMA, Hoffmann, Motovespa, Douglas).

The DEXTER RACING Classic front disc brake set is the modern solution for early Vespa forks: significantly more deceleration, noticeably more stability on poor roads and reduced dipping when braking - and all this with a look that blends in with the lines of the classic Largeframe and Faro Basso models. The conversion is designed so that the original fork and mudguard remain unchanged and the conversion is reversible.

Disk instead of drum (front) Integrated anti-dive CNC / solid swingarm Speedometer drive compatible Hubcap compatible Without fork & mudguard machining Completely reversible Brake caliper not included

Important: Delivery without brake caliper - our recommendation

Recommendation: bgm PRO brake caliper BGM2506TTB (4-piston, radial) - robust, easy to modulate and ideal for high-performance conversions.
Depending on the vehicle/setup, the following are also required for the complete conversion hydraulic control unit (e.g. master cylinder), brake line and small parts.

Field of application

Conversion of the classic front brake to disc on early Vespa fork types
Ideal for touring, everyday use and higher performance engines
More safety in wet conditions, on cobblestones and bad roads
Original look is retained (hub cap & speedometer drive)

Concept & riding feel

Integrated anti-dive: less dive, more stable front when braking
Revised geometry: better guidance and more control on bumps
Significantly higher braking performance and better fading reserves than drum brakes
Reversible: conversion without irreversible frame/fork work

Technical highlights

Swing arm: high-strength aluminum alloy, milled from solid material
Brake disk: Ø 158 mm
Brake calliper mount: radial, designed for 4-piston callipers (brake calliper not included)
Anti-dive: integrated, with revised spring/damper geometry
Speedometer: compatible with original speedometer cable (cable drive)
Optics: compatible with original hubcap
Mounting: no modification to original fork and original mudguard required
Retrofit: fully reversible

SC professional knowledge: Why anti-dive makes such a difference to early forks

Due to their design, early Vespa front forks dip significantly under heavy deceleration. This changes the caster and wheel load - the front becomes less stable.
The integrated anti-dive concept reduces this movement, the front remains more stable and you can control the braking force better - especially on undulating surfaces.

Important before buying: Check fork type

This set is designed for VBA/VBB/VNB fork types as well as Wideframe/Faro-Basso forks. For converted vehicles (e.g. later Largeframe forks) or mixed setups, please check the installed fork type in advance.

Compatible vehicle models (selection)

Typical model families and type codes are listed. For licensed and imported models: the fork/swingarm type is decisive.

Vespa 125 VNA (e.g. VNA1T, VNA2T)
Vespa 125 VNB (e.g. VNB1T to VNB6T)
Vespa 150 VBA (VBA1T)
Vespa 150 VBB (VBB1T, VBB2T)
VNA1TVNA2T VNB1TVNB2TVNB3TVNB4TVNB5TVNB6T VBA1T VBB1TVBB2T
Vespa 98/125 Wideframe (e.g. V1T-V15T, V30T-V33T, VU1T, VM1T/VM2T, VN1T/VN2T)
Vespa 150 Wideframe (e.g. VL1T-VL3T, VB1T, VGL1T)
V1T-V15T V30T-V33T VU1T VM1TVM2T VN1TVN2T VL1TVL2TVL3T VB1T VGL1T

Note: "Faro Basso" refers to models with a low-set headlight ("lamp at the bottom").

ACMA (France): ACMA 125 (early wideframe generation), ACMA 150 GL (depending on version)
Hoffmann (Germany): Hoffmann-Vespa 125 (A/B - Wideframe basis)
Motovespa (Spain): e.g. Motovespa 125 N (wideframe basis, depending on year of manufacture/engine code)
Douglas (UK): e.g. Sportique (series with VNA/VNB/VBA/VBB fork type)

As licensed models sometimes have different levels of detail, we recommend a comparison via type code/fork type if you are unsure - we are happy to help.

FAQ - Frequently asked questions about the DEXTER RACING Classic disc brake set

No. The set is designed in such a way that no modifications to the original fork or mudguard are necessary. The conversion is also reversible.
No. This set is supplied without a brake calliper. We recommend the bgm PRO brake caliper BGM2506TTB (4-piston, radial) as a suitable, high-quality solution.
Yes. The system is compatible with the original speedometer drive via speedometer cable.
Yes. The construction is designed to look like the original and is compatible with the original hub cap.
Designed for Vespa VBA/VBB/VNB as well as Wideframe/Faro Basso ("lamp down") and other models with identical fork type. For licensed models (ACMA/Hoffmann/Motovespa/Douglas), the fork/rocker design is decisive.
Anti-dive reduces the dipping movement of the front when braking. The result: a more stable chassis position, more control on undulating surfaces and better controllable brake pressure - especially when decelerating more heavily.
That depends on the national regulations. Please check the local legal situation (e.g. TÜV/DEKRA) and clarify a possible registration in advance.
